Pimples may work and then again not . I use them, but am never glued to them. Every dog has it's day. I have pulled crappies out one after the other with the pimple and then, I have had days where they didn't want it, so I switched to a jigging rap and like magic they went on a rampage.

I must admit, the Swedish Pimple is my go to for any species at any time. If I'm trying to locate fish I will use a variety of baits but always a pimple. Changing colors is never a bad idea depending on the water clarity and depth fish are at.

Congrats on buying the best hook you will ever use.

I did a test this past weekend,  I was on a school of walleye and catching quite a few. I put a PK in a very similar color to pimple on with the same bait, the holes were 3' apart so no depth difference or bottom makeup.  The pimple caught 8 fish to the PK's 2. That's not the first time the pimple has out caught the PK.  Don't get me wrong, I have caught on the PK,  both the spoon and flutterfish but,  it just doesn't pull through when the pimple does.
I don't fish to live, I live to fish...

Use a minnow head on a tiny swedish pimple.

I find that the whole minnow works just as good-- if not better for bigger perch. I also use bass minnows to target larger girls

Gold/flo orange or silver flo/orange are tough to beat for perch. Sometimes the silver/cracked green does better, especially deeper water. Still the best all-around ice jig made IMO.

When the fish are not present, but not hitting, I've had luck using a drop hook. I tie my own and put a minnow head, grub, or spike.

Changed my middle name to "You should have been here yesterday".         Remember it's called fishing, not catching.

I was slaying perch yesterday using a pimple with spikes on the treble hook.  I love my Swedish pimples.

"When fish are not present, but not hitting", I guess if the fish are not present, they cannot hit your lures.
