Here's another one... not my entry, but First REAL good day of thick frost.  Woke up this morning to +17F. nice chilly day.  Hopefully Summer is officially dead and all cold weather from here on out.

Here is a pic of my beloved Jiffy, I had a feeling I would be replacing her finally, after about 10yrs. ... I bought it used from a buddy who had the 1st auger in the area. He had it for about 20 before that... check out the handle configuration, widowmaker or what!!  I did get a replacement... a 3hp Jiffy!

CAMPING ON THE ICE

awesome !!! how long did you camp for? and what were you camping in?

we just camped one night. Got out on the lake sat. morning and fished all day. Mid afternoon we unpacked the wall tent and set it up. and then fished the evening bite and set out tiki torches around us so we wouldn't get run over by snowmachines.Someone got the wise idea that we were going drill holes beside our cots and fish all night with a light lowered down a couple feet in the middle. It worked pretty good with exception to the fact that there were so many heaters going in there that the snow pack melted  and by dawn there was 6" of standing water in the tent. Also there was only about 9" of ice at the time so when we drove the stakes thru the ice with a sledge the tips of the stakes were going thru the bottom of the ice and the water pressure kept forcing the stakes back out. We were fishing in Northern Indiana.

You've heard of ice fishermen complaining about getting their gear taken out by ATV's or snomobiles?  This is another source in Helena, MT. These baby's travel over 70mph when the wind and ice is just right!  not a good Idea to leave gear unattended.

As per the "Rules"  I removed all my but one picture.  Thanks for the great contest, and thanks everyone else for posting some pretty "cool" pictures.
