If the lake has perch, fish shallow flats at night. Use stuff you would use in the day, except in brighter colors.
For tipups, use Live minnows, weighted fairly heavily, are excellent. If you can use small perch, that will work the best. If not, use sucker minnows.
WEIGHT HEAVILY SO THE MINNOW WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MOVE A WHOLE LOT

if anybody from michigan will help me out with the lakes and stuff up here I'd really appreciate it since I'm new to the area.

use perch for bait? i was told by an old timer once to put a special chemical on its back to make the skin turn pink. use for pike and walleyes. i will use all my gear to see what works best but i needed somewhere to start
b.t.w. i like to use tipups but jigging is good

no offense, but I think that special chemical trick is probably balogna, but if it's true, I still wouldn't do it for fear of making fish sick and polluting the water.
I will have to reaserch in that.

never heard of chemically treating bait fish but I am a big believer of glow hooks and glow beads, especially for night time eyes.
