Hey trueicelover, I use the toggle method of securing my Shappell3000DX. I drill a 8" hole all the way thru the ice, then I have a piece of angle iron around 14 inches long with a 1/4 inch hole I drilled thru the middle. I tied a rope thru the hole in the angle iron and tied the other end to my shanty's rope. Drop the angle iron thru the ice and pull it up against the bottom of the ice and push my shanty away from the hole in the direction of the wind to take the slack out of the rope then I set up my shanty. I've been out in 20 mile an hour winds with no problems. They do make ice screws also, I've seen BJ use them on his with a toggle also.
