There is one in Cabelas that you hook on your line and lower it to the bottom and then reel it back up. It will give you the temperatures in 5 foot increments. I don't have one , but it seems like it would work ok.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

Haha ummm what are you talking about? Aqua views have a thermometer that is on the camera itself, and whatever depth your at with that, the temperature pops up on the top right corner of the screen ;)

aqua-vus are fantastic, but not all of them have a thermometer built in.

A real cost effective one is a pool thermometer !
The nice thing is that they are weighted so you can tie it on an old reel to get almost any depth you want !

thats what i was wondering if a pool or any other regular themometer would work. But does the temp not change rapidly so that on the way up it would not be accurate?

The pool thermometer will work, but the only way I was able to get it to be somewhat accurate was to put it in a sealed tube. it takes longer to get a reading, but the reading will last till you get it to the surface because it takes longer for the air temp to change inside the tube. otherwise the direct contact of the water to the mercury will make the temp change rapidly and by the time it's in the boat it could vary 8 - 10 degrees.

I have one that I purchased at Wal-mart perhaps 10 years ago.
It is manufactured by Berkley and has a digital readout of temp and time.
 The cord is 25' long.
I can't find any model numbers on it so I can't help you that way.

Has the rain a father?
Or who has begotten the drops of dew?
From whose womb comes the ice?
And the frost from heaven, who gives it birth?
By the breath of God ice is given and the broad waters are frozen.
The waters harden like stone and the surface of the deep is frozen.

The book of Job.
