While that is an impressive catch, fish of a lifetime might be taking it a bit far. Its an eelpout.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

You know only the strange people in the Midwest think BURBOT are trash fish.  Kind of like how people in New England think yellow perch are trash fish.  I for one love burbot and think they are wonderful sport fish and excellent table fare.  In Europe carp are regarded as highly prized sport fish where as in the US they are considered trash fish.  How would you feel if some said "it's just a walleye."  You shouldn't criticize people just because your opinion is different.

Amen, Brother.

Evidently, the critic has not tasted the Poor Man's Lobster.

You guys still getting out on Long lake?

I personally have not fished Long in years.  Someone did catch a 22lb burb out of there earlier in the year and though rare big fish do exist in that lake.  I spend all my time on Louise and reagularly catch 10 plus pounders, our biggest this year was 17 pounds 6 ounces.  I plan on crushing that fish when I go up next week.  How has your season been Yukoner any more beautiful 20 pounders?

Have only been out a few times, but done okay.  Got four nice cod for dinner on Monday.

Been just busy, busy, busy.  Retirement?  I don't know how I found time to work before this.  ???

Went again last night.  We caught 16 in two hours from 9:45 to 11:45.

This is dinner for a bunch of guests.  Have a great Easter.

God bless,
Ted

AHEM, just to clarify: only the folks in Maine think that yellow perch are trash and leave them on the ice to rot or be eaten by scavengers. The rest of New England (VT, NH, NY, MA, RI, CT) eat them up.  ;D ;D

And I whole-hearted-ly agree with your closing comment above
