Lake trout hit lighter than little baby crappie where I come from. I very rarely get a flag on my tipups, but catch a lot on my jig pole. When they bite, the line either goes slack or is added weight. Lots of times when I check my tip up, the bait is gone, and it didn't go off. If any other type of fish hits I get him because of quick strike rigs, but lakers don't even set the tipup off. How are they doing this to me? I know the tipup is set up right because I catch tons of pike and walleye on them. >:(

VERY FRUSTRATED, I NEED SOME LAKE TROUT TIP UP HELP
if anybody from michigan will help me out with the lakes and stuff up here I'd really appreciate it since I'm new to the area.

The best system I have come up with is a very light action rod with a spring extension. The same set up I would use for perch, watch the spring ,rod  very rarely moves.
