Title: Cigars on ice
Post by: hrlyridr77 on Dec 17, 2010, 11:20 AM
OK, I've seen it posted in several threads - how many of us smoke cigars on ice?

Anybody interested in a casual stogie ice fishing get together - someplace reasonably handy to the participant?

Does your luck get any better once the cigar is lit? Mine usually is...

What do you do with your cigar when a flag comes up?

  • Set it on the bucket - hope it don't fall
  • Clamp it in your teeth - too good to give it up for the moment
  • Hand it to your buddy - hope he doesn't get a flag at the same time
  • Drop it and run - only smoke cheapeaus on the ice anyway

They stay with me. I like that smoke in the eye feeling and only able to see out of one while trying to land a fish!
Flags tend to go up when you walk off the ice to take a leak, also when you are cooking your lunch or taking the first bite.

I personally don't smoke cigars on the ice.  I like the good ones and it would be a waste of a good cigar to be chasing flags and not enjoying the cigar.  For me a cigar is for after the day is done.....with a glass of scotch.....laphroig is my brand of choice!

i have been know to have a cigar on the ice..always get flags as soon as i light it. buwah! i do prefer off ice, more leisurely a smoke

    nothing cheap for me..top shelf.

anyone that lives near middleton ma..there is a place that hand rolls on premise. CT wrapper with cuban seed grown in dominican

i like a good scotch also. Springbank is the best with a cigar, if you can find it.

    burp

My fishing buddy and I always light up cigars during the slow periods because invariably ,the flags do pop up sooner than later.I particularly like this ritual because he shares his dominicans or cubans when he has them and I share my Dutch Masters with him when he doesnt.LOL

I usually have a cigar going when ice fishing, sometimes will go through 3-4 in a day. I'll bring my everyday brand and a better choice like a Partaga Black label. Always stays in my mouth. I'll light the good one after I get a good catch and if I don't I sometimes save it for later.

A good cigar and some ice cold Sam's or a toot of Jack. Got yelled at by the warden for disposing a cigar on the ice. Says it was littering. Will have to check out the place in Middleton. Usually get mine from Key West cigar. Like the flavored ones.

Got a humidor loaded with cigars. Usually take two with me on the ice. No real favorites but like the Romeo and Julieta 1875, Rocky Patel Gold, Torano Exodus Silver. Not real expensive $10 $15 range. Buy in bulk or a no rip off state they are allot cheaper !!!!!
