Just got back from TRR. Caught some crappies. Ice is about 15 inches thick and solid, at least on the south end where I was. ATVs running around, and some permanent shacks out.
The usual cracks, pops, gurgles and other ice noises, which can spook the uninitiated here. Never fished on a water that has such noisy ice. Sometimes the water actually sloshs around in the hole. Keeps the interest level up. As a rookie years ago, nearly took off running several times.
Roads melted off some this afternoon so its better driving, still icy here and there. Some ice jams up stream of the reservoir, including right downtown in Sheridan. They were using backhoes to break up the ice jams.
