Ill be making a trip to see a buddy in New York in a couple weeks. we will be fishing for pike and he said there may be some opportunity for lake trout. What would you guys suggest for a jig head in the half ounce range, for jigging soft plastics. Im thinking a fluke or other jerkbait will work good, but im not sure what size bait or hook. Im looking for a combination that would be suitable for both species, but any suggestions as to other baits are appreciated.  Are these a good option? http://www.basspro.com/Kalin-s-Ultimate-Series-SJigheads/product/10209857/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT

Not a major Pike fisherman but big tubes on a jighead stuffed with scent, rattle trap types and spoons have done well

i have several rattle traps, but they dont sink fast enough for deeper water, at least for my tastes. im sure they would work though....i'm kind of leaning towards either a 4" white or white/chart. tube, or a 4-5" fluke on a half ounce head, probably with a 4/0 hook.  Is the 4/0 hook long enough to fish a fluke, since some of the length of the hook will be taken up by the jig head?

1/2 oz - 4/0 hook. White or Chartreuse 4" tube jig tipped with a piece of sucker meat or minnow.
