                    Good morning Eddie, ER's,
It's 35* and clear here on my hill. The water temperatures are dropping. ::)
Eddie...........It's never to early to be getting the ice gear ready. My Smitty Sled is one I can break down if I need to.
It helps when I have another person riding with me.
Marv............Congra tulations to your brother on getting a Doe,  Is he done or can he get a buck as well? ???
Zcm.............I love that smile on your son's face, that's what it's all about.
H2l..............I'll be checking in later to see how the bowling went last night. :flex:
Wally...........I'm sure you and Mr. WW are glad to be home. How did the game go yesterday morning? ???
Bud.............I hope your new used truck arrives today.
Steve..........Every time we turn in the news something different is said about mandates a vaccine recommends.
Dave...........I hope the rear track goes on easily for you and you get the fabrication done before a big storm moves in. :flex:
The leaves were so thick on my lawn that one pass and my bagger was full, not only that wet leaves made for slow going. It took
me 2.5 hrs. when normally it takes about 1 hr. There are still a million to go on the trees.
I hope everyone has a good Monday either at work or out. Stat Safe and Healthy.

ZCM, thanks for sharing the pictures.
WS, congrats to your brother, the ice has been broken.
Well, we loss the first two games, but not by much. Won the 3rd by a lot and ended up 2 and 2.  I bowled pretty good, had a 189 the last game.
Not much planned for today. Be safe.....h2l

Good morning fifty degrees heading to a midday high of fifty five feels like the midddle forties with the windchill. Definitely a Fall day weather guessers say i will see temperature back in the seventies by Wednesday.Doing a quick check of local news I see Newburgh school district is scrambling to get a supply of rapid response Covid tests so it can do weekly test on unvaccinated employees per state mandate.
Drifter best to you getting the remaining tracks onto the SXS and fabricating a bracket so plow blade will be at proper height once the tracks are on the vehicle.
Zcm-28 thank you for the photos congratulations to your son on catching the catfish. it seems like unless you are catching one fish after another many young children loose interest in a short period of time.
IFF may the new to you pickup arrive today and serve you well for many years. guess the pup has your daughter and SIl  trained so he receives his daily morning ham treat.
Whopper Stopper congratulations to your brother on taking a doe. nice that he now has venison to take back to Texas. May you get a chance to harvest a deer today.
Eddie I agree all the covid vaccine mandates are causing problems with staffing in law enforcement and medical job sector. Nice that you current job has you working inside as outside temperatures start to drop.
ice wanderer in my humble opinion there is so much conflicting information about Covid-19 that people are not sure what to believe with regards to the vaccines, safety precautions and treatment if infected. lawsuits are now being filed by people who had doctors refuse to give the drug Ivermectin to them when treating a Covid infection. Ivermectin is widely used in vetarenary medicine to treat parasitic infections differing opinions on it's effectiveness with treating Covid.
Hunts2long glad you had a better night of bowling and your team split this week's game. hope your team is close to first place in league standings.
Wallyworld may yesterdays game have been a victory for your grandchild's team. Hope the triphome was trouble free and you enjoyed a good nights sleep in your own bed.

May everyone have a good Monday. best to all fishing and hunting.

Well here you can apply to get a crane tag and they used to issue only 80 tags, but now they upped that to 225 I believe with one crane per person, on the east side of the state it is a general tag and you can kill 3 a day with 9 in possession.  They are good eating I relate them to morning dove just more meat.

Well we were successful last night and the wife got her tag filled, now down to mine, probably the hardest one. But we will see if I can get it done next week.

Pic of where we were sitting

The outcome after moving down a bit.

Good morning everyone

40 degrees,  may see 70 again today. Last night the mosquitoes were out for blood, a good cool down may be the ticket.

I had a 5pt and a scrubby 3 point
Walk by 10 minutes ago. The seemed to be most interested in acorns.

My brother slept in this morning, we had a long night. He also has a buck tag so i am sure he will be out for the afternoon. They head to Texas in mid November so I am sure he won't be overly picky if given a shot at a buck.

Hope everyone has a good day. Stay safe and keep healthy.

Good afternoon everyone.

WW......she still has a few things that are bothering. Thursday is an appointment with the surgeon so  we'll see what he says. She says when sitting with an overhead light going it's like there is a ceiling fan spinning out the corner of her eye. I guess i can see where that would drive you crazy.

I just got back in my stand. One of the tribal guys from across the road stopped in to visit. He said this past bear season they were holding 32 bear tags and they ended up with 24 bear. They are getting ready for the rut to kick in before taking to the stands bow hunting.

Time to put the phone down

Hope you all had a good day.  Stay safe and keep healthy.

This morning while making my espresso I saw out of the corner of my eye a mouse run under the washer in the laundry. I guess it snuck in yesterday while I was hauling boat things into the house.
I got him before the day was done and released his lifeless corpse outside for the critters to feast on and send a warning to the other meeces!!!! I he didn't know we Arctic dudes are accomplished trappers.
Can't wait for safe ice so I can get back to the cabin so I can set my moose traps!!!  :roflmao:

Got the pickup delivered, now just have to catchup with its title.

Dave WTG on the trapping, that reminds me of the need to “proof” the new digs.   Moose traps  ?? Really??   It have Winchester stamped on it. ?

Good thing I checked the mailbox here at the old house, or I would have missed the wonderful thoughtful cards on my brother’s passing. Also found a refund check that was supposed to be mailed to Wisconsin.

Sure is quiet in this big house, think I hear one of the dogs chewing on their dry food

Will have to check in later for whats going on in the world outside

Bud…glad the new truck arrived, hopefully the title will arrive soon!
Dave…nice job on the mouse and sharing the bounty…  Wish NY would let us trap moose…maybe after the primaries.  ;D
Marv…best wishes to Jo with Thursday’s appointment, sure hope they can get those eye issues under control. Thanks for sharing your trip with us, hoping today you see the one you’re after…best of luck!!
Wally…beautiful grandpup, sure looks comfortable!  ;D  Best of luck to Mr.WW if he’s at the hunting camp today!
FH4…Congratulations to your wife filling her tag and thanks for sharing the trip and pictures!   You answered a question I had about the cranes, was wondering if they made good table fare or just a way to control them…
Steve…it has been nice being inside working, no complaints here!   ;D
OG…send some of the weather this way… ;D…did you make the trip to Minneapolis?
H2..congrats on the bowling, nice job on the 189 game!
Jeff…I’m going to wait another day for the leaves to dry up, going to face the same problems with the bagger, lol. Any word on getting your truck in sooner?

Still plugging along on the block, guessing another week maybe 2 until we finish up. Haven’t heard anything on that laborer, lol, no news is good news I guess.

                 Good morning Eddie, ER's,
It's 38* and clear here on my hill. ::)
Eddie........Does the company you are working for have other work in progress you can go to you or do you have to look for somewhere
else to go. Maybe take the winter off? ???
Dave........Trapping mice is one of my favorite things to do. ;D
Marv........I hope the surgeon has an answer for Jo and there is a remedy. I know when I had cataract surgery my eyes were very sensitive
to light and had some halos, which were normal.
H2l..........An 189 game is in for the books. Congratulations.
Bud.........I hope the title issue gets resolved soon.
Fish........Thank you for answering the crane question. They sure look like a magnificent bird. :woot:
Wally.......That's a cute pup, they seem to sleep in strange positions.
Steve......I think that the teachers should pay for the tests if they refuse to get vaccinated. Just my opinion.
Not much on the menu today.
I hope everyone has a good Tuesday either at work or out. Stay Safe and Healthy.

Heatwave of 38* today. It was 33* yesterday.

It is a sad day over at my other place. 5 of the missionaries that were kidnapped in Haiti were from the Dunkard Brethren Church just north of town. One adult and 4 children.

Marv The guy that is taking down the neighbors trees is just plain crazy. He has rented a Gemini S-85. It is scary how high that thing can go. The power line in front of the house has no power on it as everything is run through triplex so he can drop the limbs through it. Most of the firewood is going in 20-yard dumpsters along with the brush. A guy did take a trailer load of wood from this last tree.

Hopefully, the surgon an figure out a fix for your wife's eye.

Eddie Are you laying those heavy cement blocks or the lightweight ones? It is all I can do to pick up the cement ones anymore.

Sandhill cranes are known as ribeye of the sky. I never asked the friend that shot one out west how it tasted. He is a taxidermist. I did see the skin of it hanging in his shop waiting to be mounted. That thing was huge.

One more day of blowing leaves, then off to work on my new blind.

39* and clear this morning.
WS, you are seeing deer, Mr. Big will show up. Hope the wife is doing better.

The 189 game came as a surprise, usually by the last game I am going the other way. I think we are in 4th place, but the 4 teams are within 6 points of each other. It's early.

Took the muzzle loader out for a walk in the woods yesterday. The underbrush is so thick a deer would have to be within 20 yards to see it. Felt good to be back in the woods.

Have a good day and be safe....h2l

Morning all,

IW.....agree those that refuse the vaccine should have to pay for their required testing   I saw one company that's charging an extra $200 a month for health insurance if no vaccine  ;)

Eddie.....made a run to Fat Nancy's yesterday, saw quite a few people waiting in line at the various cleaning stations  ;)2

WS.....fingers crossed MrsWS's check up goes well and it's just a normal part of the healing process  :)  good luck in the woods to you and your brother today  :flex:

TT.....thoughts and prayers to friends and family of those kidnapped  :(

Drifter.....good catch

H2L.....congrats on a good game, sounds like you're just getting warmed up  :woot:

Big news yesterday in the area, a 30 year old man stabbed his father and father's girlfriend to death  :o   :pinch:  that's about all the information given out so far, I'm sure there's quite the back story  ::)

Have a good day. Stay safe, stay healthy.

WS is right about the jungle. I did get lost a time or 10. I found a casino but it was poker only;me no play poker. They pointed me to another that was nice. Bud hope the title shows up soon. Good morning everyone.

Another mild day on tap. Tomorrow the rain is supposed to move in and by the end of the week the temps will drop. I have a Dr appointment on Friday that I have to go to, so Thursday night will be it for round 1.

This morning has been pretty good. Shortly after day break a nice 8 point fed his way through a shooting lane at 30 yards. Just too early to cash in so I just watched him feed for almost an hour until he dissapeared.

I also had a doe 20 yards and spotted the 2 small bucks from yesterday.

My brother said things are dead where he's sitting, maybe tonight.

I am going back to the shack at 11am and we are making a town run. He needs ice for his cooler of deer meat.  I also have to take the pizza soup out for supper tonight.

Hope you all have a good day. Stay safe and healthy.

Rain today and snow in the mountains sounds like some places got 18 inches in some places so might get some elk moving. Only three days left and then another week on the mountain or until the tag is filled. Have a safe night and day everyone.

Good evening slight warm up today with high temperature near sixty five. They say i will see highs in the seventies tomorrow.
IFF good to hear the pickup truck has been delivered and title issue is resolved.
Fish/hunt4ever congratulations to your wife on filling her sand hill crane tag. May the mountain snow not affect elk movement to much best to you with next weeks hunt.
Wallyworld nice photo of your grand puppy. Sorry Sunday's hockey game was a loss for grandson's team. I hope you get a few sunny days so the leaves dry out some and are easier for your mower to bag.
Drifter good you saw and trapped the mouse before it got into any food.
Eddie may the contractor have another job lined up for when you complete the block work.
Ice Wanderer it would be nice if  unvaccinated teachers did have to pay for cost of Covid tests. The tests will add to New York state's debt as tax dollar will be used to pay the costs. i read the plan is for state to give each county a certain amount of money which the counties will then send to school districts.
Tomturkey may the kidnapped missionaries be released unharmed. may you finished the work on blind so you can let the area settle before you start hunting.
Hunts2long  best to you with harvesting a deer with the muzzle loader.
Whopper Stopper may your wife's eye issue pass as more time passes from surgery date. may you not regret passing on taking a shot at the 8pt. buck.

Have a good night.

Good Morning Everyone,
Happy Hump Day!   ;D     Beautiful full moon shining brightly here this morning, hope it brings some luck to all of those hunting….Hunters Moon.
56* clear and windy here this am, high of 67 today.

Steve…how are things going at the store, have you started seeing shortages of certain items like toilet paper again with all the backed up cargo ships? A coworker mentioned to me to yesterday better start stocking up.
FH4…sounds like the conditions in the mountains will be in your favor, hope everything comes together! Best of luck with the elk hunting this weekend!
Dave… :roflmao:   Those mice gotta be tough living up there, lol. Missing my old workplace, we had an annual mouse harvest at the shop this time of year.  ;D
Bud…great news on the truck, congrats!
Marv…enjoy the game!     I think we all know which buck you’re waiting for to come strolling in…I hope that happens today for you! Best of luck to you both today!
OG…how did the casino treat you?   ;D
Wally…nice day for a ride yesterday, thanks for the encouragement!     Should be beeping the horn around 4:30am at the Indian shop on Saturday unless things change.   ;D
Tom…we’re using the lightweight blocks which is a plus as everything we’re building is above grade. They are bond beam blocks that look like similar to these…allow for rebar to be placed both horizontally and vertically every course and grouted solid.  https://images.thdstatic.com/productImages/031d6483-d0d9-469c-b5ce-b8256d8a6e83/svn/cinder-blocks-200870700000-64_100.jpg
H2…looking like another nice day to go for a walk with the smoke pole….best of luck if that’s on the planner!
Jeff…not sure what else this contractor has beyond this job yet, but getting another job shouldn’t be to difficult. Heard through the grapevine that they may be starting up a crew again at the old workplace. Seems they’re bright idea of letting us all go has developed into a big problem of nothing getting done this season and some people getting spanked for it. Will keep you posted on that…

Had a few visitors swing by the job site yesterday from Homeland Seecurity to check out the progress of the new building. Had the opportunity to ask one guy what his thoughts were on what’s taking place with this crazy scene at the border. His answer was brief…they’re not letting us do our jobs and no support.  That was enough for me…thanked them for their service and let them know there’s plenty of us supporting them. They appreciated hearing that.
  Cawfee’s on…
Have a great day all, be safe, best of luck to those fishing/hunting!

                Good morning ER's,
It's 49* and clear here on my hill. A nice day a head. ::)
H2l.........I'm glad you took the smoke pole out for a walk, unfortunately the under brush is thick.
Marv.......I know the felling, a couple of years ago during black powder on the first day I let a big Doe walk hoping for a buck.
it never showed and I never saw the Doe again either. :cookoo:
Tom.......The tree guy seem like he's just learning to how to take down trees. :cookoo: Good luck with the new blind.

49* with 29* guessed to start Friday

IW The tree guy knew what he was doing. He is probably the best tree man I have ever seen work, with great equipment. He knew there was no power on the mainline so it was safe to drop limbs through it.

I do not know whether I will get the blind finished enough this year or not. I will use the old one if I can not.

Eddie Those are different blocks than I have ever seen. The well pit at my other place is made of blocks that just fit together, no mortar. The nephew that helped me with the blind, builds foam block basements and even houses. I was talking to him on the phone one night as he was looking at a print for a new office building. He said "I guess this is more than I want. There is over a million dollars of  block alone in this building."

Time for breakfast and hit the road.

Morning all,

IFF......glad the truck title issue is resolved

Eddie.....still thinking of calling it quits at the end of the year  ???

WS.....oh boy, sure hope there are no regrets letting that buck walk on by

IW.....the maple trees which are in my front yard,  are about finished with leaves but the other trees in the hedge rows on the sides of the property are still full of leaves  ::)

H2L.....good luck today  :flex:

MrC.....no bagging here, just chop them up while mowing then sweep them up  ;)  bagging whole leaves takes FOREVER  :nono:

Going to try mowing today, not sure how well that's going to work after the 3" of rain over the weekend  :-\  haven't got stuck yet this year so I guess I'm about due  ;D

Have a good day. Stay safe, stay healthy.
