Took the kayak up to Akerman Lake in hopes for some rainbows as this summer was good but got skunked. I decided to take a ride and see how lakes towards HWY 13 looked and was surprised by ice on quite a few! A few lakes on Buck Horn RD were partial or even close to covered in ice, prolly not very thick. Basically nothing on Mocassin lake and McKeever Lake, but surprisingly Petes Lake was around 3/4 covered in ice. I broke ice about 25 yards from shore before giving up and there was a solid 1" by the boat launch on out. I tried to fish McKeever but no bite so went up to Autrain Lake. Ice in the boat launch but all clear from there on out. Caught a 22" pike. Cruddy day for fish but it was a beautiful day in the kayak! Can't wait for ice though!! PRAYING FOR COLD TEMPS!!
