Hi.  New here but it seems I am in fine company.  I've been ice fishing as long as I can remember and recently built a permanent shack.  I have 2 delemas currently... The shanty is 6 x 10 and is built on the heavy side. It's a beast to move around so I'm looking for ideas on easier and more efficient means of moving it.  Would like some ideas on drop down wheels or similar.  Secondly, I'm looking for ideas for interior design from anyone suggesting more than just pinning up pics of centerfold models. ;D I've got 2 young sons who insist this thing has to double as a bunkhouse as well.  I'm adding photos of what I have done so far and you can see on the inside I've got 4 catch covers on each end with a door in the middle of one of the long sides.  Any imput is is appreciated!  Fish on compadres!    (http://s87.photobucket.com/albums/k137/Shyhootska/?action-view&current=IMG_0946.jpg) (http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k137/Shyhootska/IMG_0951.jpg) (http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k137/Shyhootska/IMG_1030.jpg) (http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k137/Shyhootska/IMG_1031.jpg)

In the area I fish, comes in handy on the thin ice. You can always make a new one or get one on Craigslist.

it can handle anything as long as you use all the ice anchors. always put 1 anchor in before i set it up so it wont blow away. ;D

My folding Ice Shack!
The walls and roof fold down so that one person can easily move it from spot to spot.   Once the walls are folded down, you simply flip it up onto its ski and off you go!  Enjoy!

Nice picture. I ended up ordering a Quickfish 4 so it is nice to be able to compare its size to your other huts. It looks huge. Any tips for keeping it in good condition? Sounds like Eskimo has good customer service but hopefully I will never have any problems. I think I will always use all 8 anchors just to be on the safe side and put at least one in before popping it up.

Here is my man shack (or as my wife calls it man suite) I bought this as a project that someone else started i payed $600.00 for it (first couple pictures show the condition of it) it was spray foamed allready so it only needed paneling etc.. It sits next to my private 14 acre pond and will be used as a summer cabin and an ice shanty, I cant wait for ice. This will be perfect place to watch tipups and the badgers/packer games oh and maybe some hold-em too. Oh the First picture was when i was bringing it home 250 miles and the last 10 this happens lol (nothing hurt other than a hole in pontoon that was fixed. I added a picture of a northern i caught on a jig (3lb test) last year 10 minutes of fun there

Title: Re: ICE SHACK PICTURES
Post by: campingonh2o on Nov 09, 2012, 03:23 PM
No motor on it and i actually removed the motor mount (probable saved 100lbs) because if it has a motor on it it is considered a boat and must be registered and insured as a boat. Sooooo it is a shanty which is covered under my homeowners and dosnt need to be liscensed ;).  i plan on installing a small a/c this summer also. The property i own floods so i can not legally build on it this takes care of that issue also.

Title: Re: ICE SHACK PICTURES
Post by: campingonh2o on Nov 14, 2012, 02:42 PM
I have a pontoon drop down trailer that lowers it to the ice, I havent used it on the ice yet just got it done. It will be on a private pond so not somthing i plan on hauling all over. I plan on setting it over some pallets and trees i sunk a month ago. My fish cam shows the gills are loving the structure.

It's 8'x8' .....the floor and benches are made with highway construction signs, the skis seperate from the house with just two bolts for ease of maintenace. This house isn't for sleepovers, the real house on shore is!

Here is my new big shack. The Clam six pack 1550. Love it so far. Have a one man Kenai and an old frabil speed shack.

Would love to build a nice perm shack butthe ice here in central NY doesn't really lend itself to them

Ryan, I have a Shappel 4000 and would like to make a shelf like that. How is the conduit attached that the shelf hangs on? Is it sturdy enough?

The cross brace is actually the same one for the roof w/ clips. All i did was put some self tapper screws on the side poles to support the weight as well as underneath the wooden cross brace on the bottom. I holds up great I have loaded that shelf with all my electronics, case of beer, and propane bottles.

It doesn't attach to anything but the shelf. On the side post's I put 2 self tappers each. The top 2 tappers is what I use to hold the conduit cross brace and when I hang the shelf the wood rest's on the lower tappers. The wood also act's as a balance. If it wasn't there the shelf would lean forward and hence serve no purpose as a shelf. I hope this helps you I can post more descriptive pic's if that would help better.

And also if your gonna use self tappers make sure not to run them all the way through they will cut through fabric/tarp material like butter. If you do want to run them through just cut short and grind smooth.
