Title: Bucket trip advise
Post by: bigr on Jan 22, 2024, 09:05 AM
After looking at weather and hearing a little about ice conditions I'm thinking seriously of flying into put in bay for a three night stay walleye fishing on Lake Erie. What's the best way to keep bait and what type of bait will i need, Just heads or whole live Shinners. Any tips or suggestions on lures.

Catawaba island web cam showing air boat rescues live.
911 crack opened wide.
Might want to rethink going over to SBI.
My buddy on the Island is pulling 2 shanty's to be safe.
He's gonna wait for the Ice sheet to move and lock in.

Blue chrome #7 and #9 jigging raps a must.
Never know on what color sweedish pimple , #5 and #7's also.
We always put a minnow on each barb, called the ERIE hellicopter.

guide always had minnows for us.

Good luck if you go

Bucket lister will have to wait. Reports from the island  area say today will be it until ice refreezes. Dense fog is expected to move in also so just flying or out will be a problem. Thanks guys for the info.

Bummer you couldn't go. Saw those guys got stranded other day. Dangerous body of water with the mild winters. Hope you get a chance to get out. Someday when we get a great winter I'm gonna try for big browns in Racine area thru the ice. Weather and pto just haven't aligned
