Welp, I plan to hit Big Creek/Lost Lake tomorrow and hopefully there will be enough ice on there somewhere that I can fish it safely.  Farm ponds in central parts have 5"+ on them and Badger is supposed to have that as well.  No "new" reports recently, but the cold weather should still be making ice as I type this.

Okoboji: good ice, clear water, tough bite.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

We were on badger today ; 6" good ice. got  a lot of gills right on the bottom.Had to watch thevexilar they were so  close to the bottom that they blended in.Few were keepers but they were a blast to catch!Fish mostly catch and release so their size did'nt matter today.Going to Clear Lake in the morning  and maybe stop at Brushy Creek on the way. Any info would be appreciated .

Action is pretty slow at Clear Lake off the Island anyways.  Enough shacks and trucks out there. Talked to a buddy of mine and he said he limited out on walleyes off Farmers Beach last night.  Havent tried her in the morning tho.

Big Creek has 6-10" on her....slow bite but managed a pile of gills (all released) with the biggest pushing 11" and a few dinks thrown in.  Had to really search hard for them but once I found them they bit pretty well.

I fished Badger yesterday and would second icedbunz's comments.  Lots of little ones with a periodic keeper and we fished around 6" & 18" off the bottom.  Most fish were caught on the bottom, but we caught the bigger ones at 18".

We caught a lot of fish in just a few hours to where I quit counting ... I was too busy pulling fish of the hook.  It was a lot of fun for my 5 yr old though ... especially for a first trip ice fishing.  He had a blast.  Let's just hope that the rain passes the state the next couple of days.
