Marcum vs485c output video HELP
« on: Dec 22, 2017, 09:52 AM »
I've had the Marcum 385 (black and white) camera for many many years, and have enjoyed the great quality. I recently upgraded to a Marcum 485c and have also enjoyed the great quality. However, I always record my videos with an aquavu mini DVR. I never had a problem recording the Marcum 385, the quality on the mini dvr always matched what I was seeing on the camera screen. When I record from the Marcum 485c, the videos that I record on the mini dvr do not match what I see on the camera screen. The output video seems very pixelated, but most of all is that when I turn the Marcum 485c to a black and white picture, the video output on the mini dvr does not turn to black and white, but rather it stays as a colour picture. I contacted Marcum, and they said the picture on the recording device should match what is show on the camera screen, but it doesn't.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and has any advice?

I have seen many complaints about this on various sites while researching fishcams.
Playback appears to squashed into a wide screen format on playback.
Get bit!

The Marcum Recon units use a antiqued QuickTime format ...after you record on your AquaVu DVR what program/format are you using to view on your computer ? I assume you are using the older AV DVR and not the AV WiFi connects system.

I use a program call VLC to play my videos, and yes I have the older mini DVR.

Yes I have and same result. But the problem is while recording. I am wanting a black and white video on my dvr, but when I change my underwater camera to black and white.

That's a head scratcher for sure ...does it affect the other function if you record ....like contrast/brightness or does it record in default mode

It must only record in default mode. It's pretty frustrating because I was told that it would record what is shown on the camera screen
