Yo Dog - check it!  I'm jes keepin' it real here.  Chillin' like a villain - know what I'm sayin?  No shizzle, can't wait for the ice fizzle - here's the 411 on my leader setup - it's just sick, dog.  ;D

1.) Pike - 12" - 18# sevenstrand leaders I make myself, #4 treble, various beads and size 00 flicker blades for attractors.  I tried attractor beads and blades last year - I was getting 3 times the flags of my fishing partners, unreal!

2.)  Walleye - 4' -8# test flourocarbon leader, #8 mustad triplegrip hooks, with various configurations of either nothing, chartreuse, glow, red, etc. beads, some with flicker blades, etc.

The flicker blades on the walleye rigs are a trial - don't know if it will help or spook fish.  We'll see...

Oh yeah, these are for my tipups...

Terry what do you use for deep water lakers etc.?  I have changed to fireline or spiderwire mainline with about 10' of flourocarbon leader (as I think fireline etc spooks fish).  I've found the reduced line stretch has increased my deepwater hookups greatly.

I also use 30lb fireline as mainline then 6-8 ft of 20lb flurocarbon. I fish lakers anywhere from 40-125 ft of h2o with 60-80ft most productive. The fireline is a little more $$$ but I sure like it.

Rich - I am going to try the blades on my walleye leaders this year and am pretty sure they will work.  I used some HT leaders last year that had on and I did well with them.

Here is the setup I use yo:
-Pike: I only fished once for them last year and used 12" steel leaders.  No beads or anything on these.  No fish caught either.

-walleye: used some HT leaders and various colored beads.  Was the first year I tried beads.  Red bead did way better than the others for me.  I want to try some bleeding trebles this year as well.  If red beads work why won't a red hook?  The leader itself I vary between 6# and 10# line, 18" in length.

Flicker blade is just a small colorado shaped spinner blade, about the size of your pinky fingernail. Its termed "flicker" because when your shiner or other choice of bait swims around, the blade flickers in the available light. Just another trick used to lure in more fish. Red, orange, and yellow worked good for me so far. These are pointless to use if fishing with dead bait, unless you fish it under a Windlass.

You gotta try everything, i've never seen glow in the dark beads. But i would try that a couple of times.
Repeat after me:   I'm a man, i can change, if i have to, i guess.
