I’m taking out 3 kids and 2 never ice fished before 6 and 8.   Hoping to get them hooked like me!   A newbie neighbor of mine and wondering if Lewis or Chapman are better options?  I usually fish Conesus and Owasco so also new to Oneida going out tomorrow and Sunday.  Thx for any input!

More parking at Chapman.  Lewis has a small lot.  Either way, get there early.  Hope you find em!

Fished the evening for walleyes.  Tough bite for me.  Very few marks in the 3 spots I tried.  Had a little action right at dark. 1 keeper, 1 short, missed one or two.  Was out with the snowmobile.  Found a few large areas of slush but hit the gas and got thru them with no problems.  Nice perch your bud got Fred!!!!

Fished off the north shore for the first time last two days. Caught about 20 walleye and enough jumbo perch for a couple meals. Not a single walleye was legal size. Is this normal?

Went out of Chapman’s today. Ride out was slushy but not to bad. On the way in was terrible. That sun had a huge effect on the slush. Stuck 3 times and had to shovel myself out. This was with a wheeler. Snowmobiles seemed to be fine. Ended with 20 perch tough bite.

20 perch for the day is a tough bite??? Can I fish with you next time? Lol

Looks like weather warming up next week.. slush will get worse before it gets better

tough bite meaning finicky! Amount of fish was good. I had fish on me all day. Had to go to the tiniest little jig I had tipped with a wax worm to get them to just set it in the mouth.

You should be able to slowly maneuver your way out. Lots of slush to fight with. We almost got our sled stuck once today. We fished off godfrey the last two days. Marked a ton of fish both days. Got maybe 19 perch between two of us over the two days. Threw back a bunch of short eyes with no keepers.

Went out of Godfrey today. Very slow bite. Lots of looker's. Was on foot with smitty so wasn't too bad. Saw 3 wheelers get buried. One guy turned around and left. Sleds are getting around fine. Managed a few nice perch and a bunch of short eyes.

I went out of Godfrey this morning and made it to 35 fow with my ATV.  There were a few bad spots but I seemed get through fine.   I didn’t see anyone stuck out there.   I managed a bunch of 12 inch walleyes and 6 perch all over 11 inches.  The perch bite for me seemed to pick up about 11:30.  Walleyes were a slow pick all morning.

Fished out of Taft in the evening.  I’ve been there a few times in the evening this year and it’s been the same story.   I don’t seem to mark a lot of fish then the last hour almost everything the swims by eats.  Biggest walleye tonight was 14 3/4.   I can’t seem to get on consistent fish there.    Lots of slush there too.

No keeper eyes tonight but I got some nice perch.   Buckshots and jigging raps tipped w minnow head seemed to be the only thing I could get them today.

Good luck tomorrow

went to shackelton yesterday, same story as everyone else lot of lookers only a few takers.  slush was horrible on the way in, buried my snowmobile and then the machine really worked the rest of the way

Hopefully this week’s warm up and freeze will take care of the slush.

I was almost hoping for a complete meltdown at this point. Get all this BS slop off the top and hope that  freezes up. I like ridding the wheeler I’d rather walk on bare ice though makes jumping around quicker and easier

Picked away at the perch and eyes this last week and weekend. The bite wasn’t to crazy but I was on fish. The majority of the perch we caught were 11 inches and better. A lot of the eyes were just under legal size with some being keepers. Last night took my nieces boyfriend out for his first time ice fishing. Managed to get our limit on eyes and didn’t run into any shorts. It was nice to put a nice pile of jumbo perch in the freezer finally. Back at it this week.

If we can just keep it below freezing at night we can cruise for a little while.

Last day on Oneida ice in 2020 was March 8th and in 2019 it was March 27th.

We fished out of Mill tonight.. Wasn't to bad going out but coming back in was a little rough..we had to stay on the gas the intire time..If you own a Wheeler leave it home. It Will be 46 on Wednesday. With that being said will be going north for Wednesday. Hopefully will grapple a limit early tomorrow.
