YO-ZURI Hybrid fluro ice line
« on: Oct 20, 2021, 10:18 AM »

Has anyone tried this stuff out? any opinions or feedback?

Thinking of getting a few spools of 3-4lbs for my panfish rods.

I have not used the ice line but do use yo zuri hybrid floro for leaders and spool up my reels for salmon and steelhead.its not as stiff or coily like full floro is.

I’ve been using Yo-Zuri Hybrid in 4# and 6# test on the ice for years, and have been very happy with it. I guess I need to try the ice line now to see if there’s any difference in performance!

Here’s a thought…you don’t think Yo-Zuri is spooling their Hybrid line to 55 yard spools and re-branding it as IceLine? Surely not!

Yo zuri is cheap junk compared to Seaguar red label. Buy the good stuff once. I use 20# for pike-proof walleye smells in the summer, 2 and 4 for panfish in the winter. 80# for tipup leaders. Not a paid endorser, just a guy who likes to catch fish.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

It would be the same extruded line, but however a different diameter classification so the same 4# ice line is a smaller diameter line compared to the same 4# for open water line.  As usual the ice line version also has lighter test# going all the way to 1# test.

Yo-Zuri is very late into the ice fishing game.  There's a lot of other really good choices out there already.

Yo-Zuri says .009 for standard Hybrid in 4# test, and .008 for the same 4# test in the Ice Line version, so probably not re-spooled. Thanks slippery!

Mr.Seaguar,
Seaguar Red Label is straight Fluorocarbon, while Yo-Zuri Hybrid is a copolymer combination of Fluorocarbon and Monofilament…apples and oranges!
Yo-Zuri is NOT “cheap junk”!

Yo-Zuri  ice line ------------ mm -------- inches

Hybrid Ice Line 1LB   1   0.127   0.005
Hybrid Ice Line 2LB   2   0.152   0.006
Hybrid Ice Line 3LB   3   0.170   0.007
Hybrid Ice Line 4LB   4   0.203   0.008
Hybrid Ice Line 5LB   5   0.220   0.009
Hybrid Ice Line 6LB   6   0.254   0.010

The open water 4# is at .235 mm or .009 inches, so it's sort of in between the 5 and 6 # ice line in diameter.

If I compare it to like Pline 3# Florice with a .15 mm diameter, it would be a better choice over the Yo-Zuri Hybrid 2# ice line at .152 mm.  That just listed product stats from the manufacture.  It all depends on actual test strength in real world application.  While compared to open water Pline 3# Floroclear is at .16 mm diameter.
