Title: 4 wheeler on the ice
Post by: wyruffneck on Jan 08, 2011, 03:41 PM
just asking for opion, beings it is a pain in the butt to get to lost dog from the green river side,  how about a 4wheeler from the little fire hole side and drive across the lake  i know that the lake should be thick enough to support it and a sled

I don't think i would do it. I wouln't do it on Boysen or Ocean either. knowing my luck i'd be the only  :cookoo: to drop his wheeler in the lake this year.

You could probably get away with it now. There's probably 7-8" at confluence...but i wouldn't go any further south then that with a wheeler yet.

We were at So. Buckboard today and left the ATV on the trailer. There was 5-6 inches of good ice but a few pressure cracks that had 4 inches.  An ATV with full load of gear and two people is a fair amount of weight to be risking let alone being cold and wet and stupid.  We saw no Atvs anywhere on the ice all day.
I see no reason to ride an ATV from little firehole (?) all the way to lost dog. Park on the hill by the Cherokee trail, or drive down and unload.
