During first shotgun season there was somebody across from the boat ramp fishing the brush piles.

I was out today.  From about 1-530. Never stayed on the ice that long before. I realized I need to get so.e shack lights so I can see what I am doing.  Fish were biting up to about 515 or so then just shut down.  Ended up keeping a few.  Nothing spectacular.
If I could make a living out of ice fishing. I'd do whatever I had to make my dream come true.

Slab killer I'm new to the area and live about 30 min from Volga park. What part of the lake do you fish? Only time I've been there was summer and it was just shakedown of electronics on my boat.

I know the park has snowmobile trails in it but are they legal to ride on the lake for ice fishing? Also what about ATV? I know they have to be registered and insured

A lot of people fish around the handicap dock.  I like to fish the southside at the dam. There is lots of cover through out the lake.

Are they still biting up here at Volga? Heading to eldorado for wife's Xmas today. Figured I'd hit this place up since its only 5 mins or so from their house. Hoping it'll keep me busy rather than sitting around the house doing nothing.

Ive got a friend that has never ice fished and said he wants me to take him to Volga. Thinking of taking him and my 2 sons over there this weekend.

Ive never been on this body of water. Is there any lake maps?

Are there cribs or brush piles to look for. Just looking for a starting point, hate to spend a day drilling holes and looking. Any help would be most appreciated.

You can almost catch fish in any hole you drill over there but there is a brush pile off the end of the fishing dock.  Also alot of brush piles along the side off the spill way.  Crappies are usually suspended around 10 ft.  Just keep in mind they are all small around 7-9".  Good luck

Seen lots odd people on volga. Talked to a few and it didn't sound like anyone was doing any good.  Marked a lot of fish and seen a lot of fish, but all the did was look.   Whats the deal with that?  Ive never been there when it was that slow

Heading there in the morning.  Anyone been there lately??  Taking minnows as well to hopefully encourage them a little more to bite.

I suspect mid winter blues. Low oxygen levels.

Don't usually have much lick with minnows up there.unless they are small minnows.  I was there on Monday it was a dead sea no one was catching much at all

Fished there today.  We were the 5th group out there.  We were set up by 11am and limited out on crappies by 3pm.  All were 8-9 inchers.  Had one bonus one of 11".  Kept 6 gills as well.  Caught 3 crappies on minnows before we quit using them because they were hitting waxies ALOT better.

Ya all I saw were 1/2 ton vehicles and my diesel the way it sits is 8760lbs.  The ice would have held it, but wasn't to bad of a walk.

Wife and I are heading to Volga in the morning, with a storm moving in and tomorrow being the warmest day all week we're going to try to find some bigger ones.
