I’m still enjoying the open water in Chicago, but getting excited for hard water season.

Hoping for fishable ice in the area during December.

our pond has a big patio/dock about 30' out into the water.  the crappie sit in the shade under it and its pretty easy to pick them off.   So I take the flasher and ice gear out and have a good time.

i ventured out on 3" of going bad ice taking all safety precautions.   caught a few gills a few days before Christmas but then decided to go walleye fishing on the river instead.
