Anybody use a pike attractant when ice fishing?  If so, what did you use and what results did you get.

Thanks

I rig 2 of the largest len thompson spoons you can buy in tandem. (one under the other) take the treble off the top hook and attatch it to the bottom hook with a swivel so they can both move well. then put it on HEAVY line and send it down. do some really hard lifts about 3 feet high 5 times then pull it up and put your pike lure down. the pike are interested in the flash and vibrations from the spoons and when they come in they see your offering. nails em

A 6 or 7inch crappie with a quick strike( two treble) set up gills work to but crappies have less spines and move slower.

It's legal here, been doing it for years. Why is it illegal up there anyway ? Pike eat em with or without a hook in them they have no preference.

Dump a can of Puss N Boots catfood down the hole. It works for me where there is a bit of current. It has attracted Crappies and Walleye also.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

Why is it illegal up there anyway ? .

Here in NH it is illegal to use YP as bait because everything eats them!  Some of my laker jigs are YP in color and they outfish any other jig I send down.

A Conservation Officer here in Iowa told me we can legally use any fish caught with a pole. You just have to count it as part of your daily limit if there is a limit on them.

I know in the Conneticut river (Setbacks) you can use perch if you jig them out of there.  I didn't think i could at first but when i talked to the GW he said "as long as you jig them out here you can use them" and that goes for any fish you jig up. The last and only pike i caught in 06 in NH was on a small crappie.

I'm with you Barleydog.  These are also good for other species like walleye and  laketrout.

I will use a colored weighted jig head on my tip up and hook the bait through the mouth. It tends to be a disadvantage because it is a single hook. But the weight jig keeps the bait from swimming around too much and adds a little color.

Team M.I.R.C Rock bass. It's whats for dinner.
