i was just wondering if sumbody could give me info on trolling for walleyes

First, you need to buy a trencher.
Second, you need a trailer big enough for the trencher, ATV or Snowmobile
Thirdyou need to figuire out how to attach the transducer to the ATV or Snowmobile so it will stay in the trench you have cut in the ice.
I think once you have that stuff figuired out, you need to get out the lake map and find the area the Walleyes will be moving through for that time of year. If you have a good trencher, you can cut lines back and forth and not just straight. Be careful about dragging you line along the edge of your cut, it may be jagged and cut your line.
Make sure you have your auger handy in case you do hook up. You will need to fight the fish, get the auger started, be careful not to cut your line on jagged edges, drill a hole, be careful getting the line into the hole, and bring the fish up and through; this could be tough if it's a big fish and you don't have a 10" auger.
This whole process would be easier if there were 2 of you on this expedition. Make sure you get a good measurement so that when you make your trenches they are equidistant from the ATV or Sowmobile. You don't want to have an argument over having to reach or driving over someones trench.
Anyway, maybe some others could chip on this with some more suggestions.

i do this but...... you set up the required # of tilts then wait 10-15 min. go to the first one and hop it over the rest to a new location. the second time you use the one from the second hole you drilled......and so on and so on. on a slow day you can cover the entire lake....lol. if you have active flags just skip that one in the rotation.

you may be able tyo get a good deal on a used coast guard cutter and possibly troll behind that :D

You see billditrite, that goes against all that you are about. We could look for an icebreaker, or we could move south away from the ice. I want something that takes ingenuity. Besides, I don't have the right ball on the van to tow the Cutter. :(

That's easy!!! You just fish Lake St Clair when there's a west wind blowing. The ice usually breaks off and away you go! Just get a good spot near the edge and troll away. Make sure you have both a Michigan and a Canadian license, because that's where you'll end up. Eventually the Coast Guard will fly out and pick you up and you get a helicopter ride home as well. Good Times!

Now that is extreme fishing!!!!! ;D That is the kind of winter trolling that appeals to me, still need some fancy gadgets though.
