Title: Ion trouble
Post by: Dsportman on Feb 13, 2018, 06:23 AM
Anyone else have trouble with the ion? I got one good season out of mine and now it’s acting up. Hoping it’s the trigger switch and not the motor.

The motor will not turn. Acts as though the battery is dead but I have two batteries fully charged. Can hear the click when the trigger is activated but it will not turn

I have one. 4 yrs old, not used first 2 but battery charged once a year. Used minimal last year due to lack of ice.  Used a fair amount this year. I get about 30 holes in 12-14 inches of ice then it drill a few turns and stop, let rest, few turns then stop, battery dead. LED indicator shows 2 of 3 lit but not enough to continue drilling. Take home, charge, good for another 30 holes. I now take my jiffy, forever will.....

Had mine for 6 years beat the crap out of it with no issues , knock on wood. I hear they have excellent customer service, its worth a shot to call them, maybe they can hook you up.

I've had mine for 5 years now, it's still good for 30 holes in 10 inch + ice at least, on a full charge.  Have never had to drill that many holes fishing, but I do test it every season.  sounds like a call to customer service is in your future.  I was told when I bought mine (from other owners) that the handles can have some issues.  Break easy if your drilling and really push on them, or twist them a lot.  Maybe a crack in the handle is pulling a wire?  good luck
