I caught the kokanees on swedish pimples.  Last year I was catching them about five feet off the bottom.

How deep of water? I've heard to fish deep water (50 to 60 feet) and look for them cruisin.

They were about 40-50 ft down and they do come through in schools.  When they are on it is non stop action.

when talking about how much water in Palisades, check this link out.

http://www.usbr.gov/pn/hydromet/burtea.cfm

They did not drain it, but they did get down to 3% full this fall.  It is now up to 18%.

My experience with Palisades for the past couple of years has not been good.  Other than a 26 in. laker last year, haven't had much luck for probably 4 years.  Prior to that, we would limit 2 or 3 times a year on 18" + cuts.  Any advice on locations to fish Palisades now?

I'm new to this but just wanted to say we caught the hell out of the macs last winter. If anyone wants to go then hit me up and we will make a half day out of it.

I'm usually on the lake every weekend and some weekdays. I usually fish Big Elk Creek. Look for a black Land Rover or Gray Ford Explorer with 1T plates.

I only went out to palisaades a couple of times last year, spent most of my time at ririe but the year before I went out there quite a bit, caught a lot of fish, mostly cuts, browns, and kokes.  the only place we ever really fish is Big Elk too.  When you are catching the macs, how deep are you?

I usually get to the lake at the buttcrack of dawn and fish in 30-45 feet of water. I think i saw you there once last season. Were you the one fishing just off the old road bed?

Might have been I have fished that spot before, usally I am with one of my friends, I have a red ford ranger, 8B plates.  probably see you there this year, we always try to get there right before it gets light, it seems like the fishing is always the best there early in the morning.
