The lights are mounted on the drill behind the chuck. They actually shine through the chuck.
If you are referring to removing the adapter that was part of the first generation Clam drill plate and putting it on the new drill you will likely not be able to get it off your current/old drill. If the new drill is going on a Clam drill plate you would be better off just buying a whole new gen 2 plate so that you don't need to remove the chuck. to get this adapter off my first drill I had to have it milled off. the adapter for the gen 1 plates are no longer made and Clam is out of them for good.
OK- so I started the season with the old Gen5X Ridgid and my old adapter, finally time to get serious about doing this thing. I was looking for a way to remove the chuck and make a solid connection to either a Pistol bit or just another hand auger conversion. I popped the chuck off the Octane, and it is a different arbor. I think it must be 9/16-18 thread like the big Milwaukees or the mud mixer. That being the case, there is no commercially available adapter which has 9/16 threads to replace a drill chuck (is there?)I think my best option is to go with a mud mixer quick loc chuck, and buy the auger adapter from Deep Freeze. Does anyone have a better option?
found this ..but not certain..he seems to make custom lengths ..he may be able to make the right thread size as well https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ice-Auger-Adapter-for-Cordless-Drill-No-Drill-Chuck-Style-Direct-Attach-Ice-Fish/183357837078?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225073%26meid%3D60aaa7677c1d4ec688bcb9d9103e27c4%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D132505245541%26itm%3D183357837078%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DUnbranded%2FGeneric&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Adbe3d36e-46c3-11eb-a4a9-3a418495cf1d%7Cparentrq%3A9a76ff811760a4d729a93e1effe62d01%7Ciid%3A1
