Thanks Trapper, I didn’t slaughter them but caught enough for some great fish tacos.  My new favorite meal when I get a light catch.  3 perch filleted and chunked up and beer battered makes more than enough tacos for me. Just finished eating them!

GH73, that taco looks delicious!
What type of sauce is on that?
Doesn’t look like tartar.

It’s chipotle mayo.  Just threw in some lime juice, paprika, chili powder, salt and chipotle seasoning. It goes really well with the fish.  I can post the ratios if anyone wants to know how to do it. Also, the fish is my Mountain Dew fish fry mix you guys really need to try if you like beer batter.  It sounds gross but it loses all the flavor and sweetness of the soda but retains the high carbonation and sugars that make it work so well.  I posted it in the Fish and Game Recipe section last year on LOU.

I measured 5-6” in north bay this morning roughly 300 yards from shore. Although I wouldn’t recommend it I did see 1 snow dog Saturday morning and 3 this morning 😜. Pritty hot bite Saturday morning little slower today. I’m blaming rising barometric pressure but who knows. I seen quite a bit of people fishing the canal in the 3 spots I checked on way home too. Did not check the ice on the canal

Due to kid duty I could only fish from 6-845 Saturday morning but picked up this bucket with 1 13” perch

Fished this morning 6-1130 and only picked up this batch

Either way what a beautiful weekend to be on the ice. Wind was at a minimal

I really wanted to get in Oneida but decided to try my small water spot instead.  Had fun but lost my last jig from the past on a pickerel at the hole. Felt great to get out but wow, 6 degrees is cold even in a heated shanty.

And THATS why I hate pickerel - hahahaha  I didn't kill them either but I got a 14" perch which was my 2nd biggest ever out of the small lake I fish .... + 4 more and 3 bass from 14-18"" - didn't have a shanty or heater but catching those kept me warm ....

I’ve still never caught a perch over 12”.  I love fishing in a shanty but definitely caught more fish before I had one.  I kept warm by moving and drilling new holes which helped me stay on the fish. I remember one year back in the 90’s when I entered an 11” perch frozen solid from my bucketful when nobody else had caught more than 3 or 4 fish. It was a single digit day and the wind was blowing close to 20.  Literally fished from sunrise until the 4:00 deadline. All I had was a bucket to sit on.  I was disqualified because they didn’t believe I could have caught all those fish in those conditions.  Would have won a free mount of the fish and some cash, oh well. I got to ice fish almost every day back then.

Got out today for a few hours. Tried a spot I’ve never fished on Oneida and managed to find some fish. Hopefully the ice holds on through this warmup.

Thanks guys. Ice was around 4 inches in the spot I was at. Ran into an area with just under 2 inches. So I didn’t venture where I wanted to go. Figured there would be more reports with the amount of people out there the past few days. That’s a cool picture Dom!

Iceman and DeadEyes! Woo Hoo! it's nice to see some fish in buckets! Glad you each had a safe and successful trip out and back. Bet it was glad to get your feet on the ice again and back on solid ground again too.
It's not just ice fishing, it's an adventure! Hopin' it gets cold again for you guys, be safe.
Fun stuff, I miss it...

Cool pic! I went to high school with a couple Delahunts. Wonder if they were related to the gentleman in the picture. They lived on the north shore of Oneida Lake.

Decided to take half a personal day from work today and blew out at noon before the lake turns to a mess. Man I’m glad I did! Bite was 🔥 330-530. Fished with 2 buddys less than 100 yards away who also picked up a limit of eyes and a few nice perch. Fished messenger bay. Found an average of 4” of beautiful ice. It’s to bad it’s not gonna get below freezing tonight to lock that 2” of slop up on top or we would really be on to something 🙄
