And now we wait.

Who am I kidding. It's going to freeze over and we'll get like 2-3 inches, which will melt next week when its 45 and raining.

Unfortunately, it’s not looking great.

Not sure.  ???  Some were saying it's so the contractors have access for the bath house rebuild.

With limited parking and no cameras all winter I’m hoping the locals can let people know when ice is safe to walk on so we (not locals) can get some fishing in. Thank you in advance

Salmon/Steel Head fishermen, I live on the Salmon River in Pulaski and have prime access to several famous fishing holes like the staircase right at the end of my driveway with plenty of room to park. What I'm looking for in return is private access to the North or South shore of Oneida (Preferably Both) for the upcoming Ice season. As I'm sure many of you are aware social media has quickly made it extremely difficult to find parking even for locals! Parking and access have gotten increasingly worse over the last 5 years maybe more. Yes, I could just get up earlier, but I have a 4 and 6 year old that accompany me quite frequently and unfortunately, they don't have the longevity of an adult so it's not uncommon that I find myself making a trip back to Pulaski to drop them off. Several times in the past 2 years we have been blocked in making it difficult to leave for various reasons (people lack common sense/decency these days but I won't get into that). I assume with the late start to the season this year the parking is only going to get worse so I'm offering a trade of sorts, fishing access for fishing access!! Send me a PM if you are interested, I've been Ice fishing for over 30 years and know Oneida very well, we don't need anything other than parking, you won't hear us in the morning, and we ALWAYS pick up after ourselves as I would expect from people using my front yard for parking as well. Of course, making a few new Ice fishing partners is always welcome!! I will probably post this on a few other pages for places that we frequently fish as well, although I wish I didn't have to.... thanks, social media!!

I've been one of the conservative types that wanted at least 4", more comfortable with 6-8", before I ventured out.  And I couldn't find a spud for the longest time (Doc's in Honeoye had them last time I was in), so another rule I always tried to follow was I'm not going to be the first one out there.  A few years back, I decided to drive down to Canadice Lake, I always fished for trout through the ice when I lived in PA, and Canadice is the closest trout lake to me in WNY.  I got down there, and there were two guys in the center of the lake off the south end canoe launch.  So I packed the sled and headed down through the woods.  Out on the ice, I followed the footprints out to an abandoned hole in about 30 feet of water, got out my mini-gaff, and measured a scant 2 inches.  I was there so I put a jig rod in.  I noticed the two guys in the center of the lake walking towards me, and I backed away as they approached.  They hollered over to ask if I was unfriendly, I shouted back that I was only on 2 inches of ice.  I packed up soon after and backtracked off, no way I was cutting another hole in only 2 inches.

Took a ride after work today and stopped into the beach. So you can still park in the main parking lot they just don’t want you parking by the casino. That lot is huge and even on the busiest days iv only seen it half full so space shouldn’t be a problem. It’s just gonna be a farther walk to get on at the beach or ya goda go down the rocks. As far as ice goes. It was locked as far as I could see from the binos but it wasn’t much at all. Looked very similar to the pic XC 600 just posted. I never even got out of the truck if that says anything. Take that info as you will….
