Good luck to everyone today. I’ll be out somewhere later.

Just thought I’d post that I tried to go out of my place just now and it’s still not doable. The areas that opened up from the wind are about an inch of crap ice buried under snow. So be sure to check your spots. Some are safe and some are setup to trick you into taking a swim.

X2 on that. The ice is extremely variable on the north shore. Some spots are still 1”.

Good luck and god bless everyone trying today. Got a place rented on Lewis pt next weekend. Looking to cancel now. God bless.
Lots of guys off Lewis Point today, haven't been out yet (work comes first). Not a guarantee but the ice should hold up. You can always hit the east end of the lake.

Is the East end good all the way across?  I’m heading out tomorrow to check out the beach

Anyone try out of Jewell today? Was hoping not to fish the beach again tomorrow but looking like that will be the safest bet. Gold kastmaster has been the ticket for me.

I’m pretty surprised there are any machines out there already. I’m leery of walking out on foot with my 150# frame and lightly packed shanty.

I don’t care if there’s 2 feet of ice. I spud spud spud every single step. In 1983 I was fishing Chaumont and there were trucks driving by me. I hit with my spud and there was less than an inch of ice and that was a mile out. God was with me on that day.
God bless the savvy souls out there today and tomorrow. And bless their hearts.

My boot went through a crusted over 10” hole over 20 fow one time and leg went in down to my crotch and I thought I was  going in.  Ice was a foot thick but that feeling scared the crap out of me. Walk carefully and watch those areas that look a little different than the ice your standing on.

Yep thats a real adrenaline check isn't it ??  Had the same thing happen and I spilled my minnows on the way down. When I figured out I wasn't going thru I started trying to scoop them up by hand and put them back in the bucket while I was still crotch deep .... I lasted till 10:30 when I couldn't feel myself moving my toes but I knew I was doing it.  LOL

My son and I fished Mill st out by Grassy. There's only 3" of ice out there. Only did 1 walleye & 1 perch. Them fish hugged the bottom the entire 3 hrs we were out. People are running machines close to shore. The weekend anit over yet in positive that somebody will put another in the lake.. We're going to try the south shore tomorrow..

People do things a little unorthodox sometimes. Hopefully he was righted down the right path afterwards.

I would be pretty frustrated myself if I drove all that way to fish only to have to find a different spot because the whole lot was taken up by only a handful of vehicles, who wouldn’t be?

Drive by Lewis 520 this morning and there as already a line of trucks heading out! Man I thank my lucky stars I have friends with camps on the lake. Waiting for that sun to peak up and the action to start!  ;)
