If you are talking about these 2 figures out there, they have been there for a week. Part of the racetrack for the snowmobile drags coming up.  ???

Went out to measure snow. Got 9-10 inches here near Lakeport. And it appears to be fairly dense, so should make for excellent snowmobile traveling. Couldn't stand how bumpy the ice has been so far this year.
The tug is the drug.

We got nearly a foot here on SE shore after .3" of rain. See a few sleds getting around. 14 degrees and dropping this wet snow might tighten up a little.  I'm sure there is some slush under the snow.

Thanks for the reports guys.  Looks like I'll wait a few days for some machine trails to harden up to follow out on foot.

Good to know thanks. I’m thinking of doing a night trip but will choose a spot with minimal walking and go lightweight
I prefer a 2oz sinker for perch...when it hits 'em they won't feel a thing

I only use a sled for ice fishing. So I don’t have much time on them and have never been out there in deep snow.Any advice to keep from burying it?

X2 - it is a real mess out there. I got buried at my first stop too and I had packed a trail before I stopped.

Second stop I unhooked the shack and pulled the sled away from my holes.

I think I burned more gas this morning than I have all season.

Pack a trail where you want to stop by circling back on your track. Then when you stop, unhook the sled from your shanty and pull the sled away from where you are fishing.

Im glad to hear you guys got back to shore ok!!! I managed to get to my first stop without much struggle with my sled, went to move to another stop and buried my sled in a deep drift. Took nearly 30-40 minutes to dig it out. I travel a lot like reeleyz does in that slushy mess. First time ever getting stopped to a complete stop out there.

To the two 🤡🤡 who thought it was epic and funny to clap and take pics of my issue out there, I 👏 applaud you for being real standup sportsman and citizens for not attempting to help someone who was in need of help!! Good work 🤡🤡!!!

By the way, after I got myself to shore, I grabbed a shovel and commenced to walk 150 yds back out to help another guy who was in trouble with a friend with their stuck machine. Only to have them yell to me, that they were all set. They saw me unbury my sled already. And, that I didn’t need anymore exercise!! 😁 it’s wet and deep out there guys! Plan ahead if you decide to venture out. I did see a gas hole between Willard island and Taft bay access. I didn’t get cords for it, sorry!!!
