Lewis Pt. parking lot was pretty full already at 5:20 this morning.  I noticed the cars parked on the side road when I came in at 11.  Too bad they can't make more spaces available behind that second row in the parking lot.  That's a tough drag from the lot to the ice with no snow on the way.  Guessing that might change tonight.

Interesting colors on that perch F&R. Looks like it mixed with a smallie.

Here is a spoon that should hit the stores maybe next week , made by iron decoy
But only been tested on perch so far

Interesting color on that perch.

Here is one from today. Looks sort of like a smallmouth pattern.

Here is one from last night for comparison.  ;D

Been out there for plenty of ice quakes. Never walked out of the shanty after one though and found a one foot gap right next to me.

Finicky bite out of Sylvan today. Lucky I hung in, it got hot from noon to one! They liked a barely moved buckshot today. All walleyes were over 12"! Keepers 15-18" Good luck this week!

Yeah they put signs up on both sides of north main like down Lewis too.  First come first serve. Apparently all the idiots that show up late can’t read. The lake is huge with tons of great fishing everywhere. Their not happy till nobody can park there. I won’t even fish Lewis on the weekend cuz of that

Called an asset I have, the second time a deputy showed up he actually saw the no parking signs and put notes on a few vehicles. Our new super is a good friend and I will be speaking to him soon enough. Ice is piling up at pressure cracks, saw a few snow dogs and sleds today although there is little snow.

Took a look at her from 81 this afternoon on the way back from Chaumont. Saw some shanties out off south shore. Looking forward to getting back up soon. Get up at 4am for lp or go somewhere else. Don’t be an ahole.

I am also a fisherman who on occasion has to drive by a place I'd like to fish because there is no room to park.  That is just the way it is , lots of fishermen and few places to park.  I also have the utmost respect for land owners as I am one myself. I would never consider parking on someones front lawn or make it difficult for them to exit their own driveway.  Here is a suggestion for the Lewis point residents. Get the number of a reliable towing service and when that jerk returns from a grand day on the ice let him figure out where his vehicle is and pony up the tow bill. Guaranteed he won't do it again.

Great start to Oneida Lake 2022 (at least for me).  I finally figured out last season that to catch walleye I need to target perch.  Put that into practice today

Nice haul there trundog, I was up there on Friday but I'm too old and spooky. I just didn't like the looks of it although there were many guys out of Lewis and sylvan.  I'll have to wait a bit yet.

We got maybe 3” last night max.

The wind is keeping the snow off the ice though.

I walked out past Dunhams yesterday. 6” of ice every where I checked.  I had to take a detour on way back because pressure crack opened up and my path out was under water on way back.  Luckily it was close enough to island to be very shallow water so I eventually did my impersonation of a fat Superman and jumped it.  Fishing was lousy. Marked very few and ended up with 5 perch for a whole day of fishing.  Stopped on way in where tent village was and didn’t mark a fish in 30 minutes so called it quits.

Got out yesterday afternoon and fished from 3:30-5:30.  Marked very few fish. Ended up catching one perch and a short eye. Travel was easy going. Crossed one decent crack. Had to lay my spud down and step on it to get across. May have to bring a plank out to cross that crack again. Was nice to get out. 5 1/2- 6 inches of black ice everywhere I checked on my way out.

I'm glad Oneida is missing this storm so far.  We're getting pounded back in Irondequoit (Rochester).  A good foot and still coming down.  Not great for our new ice around here.

The wind has died but the snow has started again. Let's hope it stays light.
