Weather not looking very ice friendly the next 10 days with temps in the 40's and 50's. Says winds could gust to 40 today. Anyone out or nearby that can report on shore ice conditions. Considering one more outing tomorrow but not sure. Thanks.

took a 3 mile round trip walk out of williams this morning.......shore was fine .......little standing water on top.....top inch is getting mushy......drilled 15 holes and never found less than 10".....I would say we lost an inch or 2.......lots of good size holes where old holes were and some spots that would eat a sled or wheeler not to mention a person......I wouldn't take a machine out at this point but if you do wait till it gets light so you can see the bad spots......walking was easy peasy.....wear cleats.....fishing?.....let's just say it was a nice morning for a walk ;D.......spud isn't a bad idea also.......CAUTION SHOULD BE USED FROM THIS POINT ON......stay safe fellers

Thanks for the report Scout. We definitely could use a good freeze to stop the bleeding.

Hoping for a few fish in the tribs next week. A million walleye and a ahort ice fishing should mean there's a lot left. I think I'm probably done with the ice.

Good luck and stay safe.

The only thing I can find that is even close to 37 days away is "maybe" Tax Day (4/15).
Spring is this month, Trout is 4/1 and Walleye is 5/2...h2l

I found it. April 22 is EARTH DAY...

Sometimes the only way is to drive and see for yourself.. I live 2 hours away & don't count on anyone in social media when it comes to safety..ice picks & spud..I'm a walker so you know I'll be fishing somewhere..

How’s the ice?

I checked a few north shore spots and it is not looking good at all. The water has come way up and the shore ice is going fast.

Got out on big bay today
2 other guys out there as well
Public access was getting lousy
Probably need waders if you want to get out next couple days
Ice was very soft and sketchy
Didn’t measure but there was around 6-8” where I drilled my holes
Nothing on tipups
Didn’t do any jigging

Nice job Freddie! I hung it up for the hard water season. I’m on the hunt for antler sheds for the next couple weeks when I can get free. Good luck to anyone venturing out

Fished out of the beach.28 -30' Landed 7 Keeper eyes just as many shorts. Few Perch and 1 smallmouth. Glow #5 rap. 8 to 10 inches of ice. Lots of pressure cracks and washed out hole be safe.

I put my hardwater gear away yesterday. Talked to a buddy of mine yesterday, an avid ice fisherman all of his life, and today was his last day on the ice. he said the ice ice is disapearing fast. lower south bay, and short point is honeycombed. big bay is just about all honeycombed. the whole back of the bay is a funcky color. NOT GOOD FELLAS. I think the fat lady is singing pretty loud !!! We may have a couple of cold nights, but it won't make the honeycombed ice any better. If anything, it will be brittle. it won't give you a warning, it won't crack, or make any noise. you will go straight through it no matter how thick it is.
On a better note. Got the boat in the driveway today, and got the cover off the camper.
            Stay safe !!!   Sully...

There never really was any great ice this year, only like 5 inches black ice with 6-8 inches frozen snow on top. I knew it would go fast, one of those years you can cast for walleyes before it closes maybe. The shoreline in Constantia is really punky, and Scriba creek is raging with runoff, not super high yet like last year though. You can see open holes and whatnot from the road by Manhattan Moon in town as well. Spring perching is gonna be the deal this year. :)
