I've had enough, just booked a wild bore hunt in florida for next week, leaving some time this week.  I would rather be ice fishing but not willing to work that hard and not be safe!

I dragged a Frabill Recruit 0.6 of a mile from Chapman on Saturday ... holy crap that was a work out.  I've never really needed a smitty sled on Oneida, but now I'm thinking about putting one together.  Even then, I don't think it would help that much ... it was like walking in wet cement.

But I managed a couple of 'eyes and a couple of perch.  The fish were finicky eaters during the day, but I ate well that night to make me forget the walk out.
See you don't have to go out miles, Fly-Rodder only went 0.6 mile.  Most guys walked or drove right over top the fish you were into today.  A lot of nice fishing 1/2 mile or so from where you went out if you know where to go.  Got those quad points in my Garmin.

I travel same way on days like this
If you sit around all day and do nothing your a bum, but if you sit in a boat all day or in a shanty and do nothing they call you a fisherman

Right on. My philosophy is always start shallow and work your way out. Hard to believe how many guys drive or walk over great bites. My best bite late summer was in 4fow. Fall I catch most of my fish casting inside of where guys are wading. This year I’ve been out to 26fow once. Every other time found ‘em shallower.

Sorry for the rant. I didn’t fish this weekend. Getting cabin fever!

Well I just had to fish the same area , sat down in one spot , nice to have the shack , nice and dry , not a banner day but not bad , plus 2 keeper eyes , that will teach them to scatter the perch 😉 ,caught some tanks , I checked the cams didn’t see many fishing today ,

If you have the time check out the link in my post here: https://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?topic=376621.0
It shows how we ice fished for smelt in Lake Champlain in the old days.
I think you’ll find it interesting.

If your going out, stay away from Scriba creeek, make sure your insurance is the best you can get. This guys insurance paid $7,500 to get the sled out. I missed my calling, my buddy said the guy told him he made over 60k this week. I still say it's that damn Al Gore's fault.

Any idea what insurance the guy had?

Well I think if I tired I would take Breaks ,
Well I’d think carrying a back pack spud, auger and extra 25 lbs of fish and breaking through the crust would do harm to one lower back ,
And how does anyone know what conditions everyone walks out on
Maybe the whole lake isn’t the same 😉
Plus goon and I don’t go out blindly , we do a little homework first
