Yo Guys & Gals,

The only word for the 10 day forecast is DISMAL.  Personally , I am looking for some open water on the canal locks and walls just to satiate that itch to wet my line. Let us all exercise some good judgement and remember we still have a good 3 months for our ice to heal or rebuild. No fish is worth losing one's life or placing would be first responders in harm's way.
Looking to see you all out there, on top my friends.

shoot bunnies and fish for steelies this week

I was thinking of hunting bunnies and squirrels
If you sit around all day and do nothing your a bum, but if you sit in a boat all day or in a shanty and do nothing they call you a fisherman

I’ve been walking on ice on my own for over 4 decades , what maybe be comfy for me may not for another ,
I have about 6 people I trust and still take my spud and check it for myself ,
Far as Oneida we normally don’t get on the ice until first second week of January on the main lake anything before that would be a bonus , I haven’t even been on Oneida yet
And I’ve seen pics of all  eyes being caught
And the reports from FB , oh by the way I drove about 2 hrs yesterday to check some ice first spot was a dud the second I fished , I enjoy many species
Ps while 1 area on Oneida maybe fishable doesn’t mean the whole lake is safe

I agree completely 🎣🌑 the walleye population is very healthy. And some really nice ones , from what I seen from the soft water bite , play hard and safe

Well the goon and I witnessed, first three came out with just a drill walked out and drilled holes no spud , they leave after a couple hours , another shows up and walks out next to those holes and drills a hole measures it and no spud and leaves he says to his young ones want to go check the next spot ,
ice is  thicker there as it never sees the sun , maybe 7-8” ,  15-20’ feet from there was just 3”s
 Not Oneida

Safe Ice! Been there and done that and the only thing that saved me was the depth being just 4 feet. I was able to break the ice back to shore and climb out and retrieved my spud in the spring.
Then I am sitting in the truck buck naked with the heat blasting and a DEC officer shows up thinking I was up to no good. He actually helped get my gear into the truck while I dried and warmed up.

Never fished Oneida and was wondering if it is normal to drive on Oneida in mid February.  Want to drive trucks onto the ice.

Any information appreciated.
If you can't play nice, get off the ice!

Can’t  be no advisory for that little lake. Y’all get 8-10’ swells out there

Bring your boat down with big East or west winds with you’ll have loads of fun with those close close knit waves , nothing like big lake

I would if I had a boat. Lol. A buddy of mine only calls me when no one else will go out for brownies and steelies. Last 2 times we went out it’s was rolling almost 10’ers on Ontario real fun for me who doesn’t get out on a boat often, so I just drive he rigs. Lol
