I'm taking it camping this weekend, I'll try to report back on how it performs. I do like the idea of the "rigid radio" app to control from your phone, but mostly got it for the am/FM feature. bluetooth is a bonus
it wount over power the neighbors while camping or at home.. which can be a good thing.

Ok Gang. So today, I don't have any deals, but I do have a little story to tell! We have a member here on Ice Shanty who hasn't posted since March 21, 2019, but he comes everyday to visit! "What does he do when he's here, you ask?" Well, he goes straight to the Best Deals thread like many of us do, but not to looks for buys. He comes looking to sell! You see, he's what's called an Amazon Affiliate and what it means is, if he advertises a product on a website like facebook and provides a link, if someone else on that facebook page follows that link and buys the product, the Affiliate gets paid an advertising fee (3%-10% of the purchase price depending on the item) directly from Amazon; almost like a commission! To try to keep this semi-short, I'll summarize as succinctly as I can: This member comes to visit IceShanty.com and he looks over the deals posted in the deals thread. If he finds any Amazon deals particularly enticing and expensive, he takes the deals with him to the fishing group pages he belongs to on facebook (like "Ice Fishing Fanatics" and "Ice Junkies Outdoors") and posts the deals just like we do in the deals thread, but with one exception, he makes money if anyone purchases via his link. So, while he's not doing it directly on IS, he's taking the deals IS members hunted for and he's profiting on them when people on facebook follow his links to Amazon and buy. I'll bet you're thinking, "Well, that's pretty sneaky!" And you would be right! He's taking the deals we worked and hunted for and profiting on our work! "Why else is this a bad thing you ask?" Well, he’s posting on at least two fb group pages that I've bee able to confirm (maybe more) that combined have over 120,000 members. This means that instead of just loyal IS members seeing these deals, thousands of others on facebook are as well, and when there are limited quantities available...well, the deals don't last very long. I'm curious, did those posts show up in your feed, or did you search for them? Reason I ask is that I tried advertising/selling products from my own website on Facebook awhile back, and I was targeting the Facebook groups that would be interested in those products. If I just posted a link to my product or to the sales page of that product in the groups, the post would get buried, and very few people saw the post. Facebook doesn't like it when you post links to products for sale in your status, groups, pages, etc. They want you to use their ad platform and pay them to show the product to a custom "audience" that you specify. So, while this is definitely some sneaky behavior, it's unlikely that that many people actually saw those posts. Unless something changed with the Facebook algorithms in the last year or two.
Let me start off by saying thank you Deal Ninja ..for all your time and effort in finding and posting deals and for also encouraging other IS members to do so as well . .. on a more personal note I recently passed on that Frabill Recruit one man deal to a buddy and he was able to get it for the discounted price it will fill a niche in his arsenal for him and his 8 yoa son/ my new ice buddy ..it also reports that it appeared "new" no nix/scratches . As for your hard efforts being reposted on FB ...that's No Bueno ...if it is the member that you mentioned it would be very sad ..as I thought he was a true blue Shanty member ..he has posted quite a lot of good information and videos ..very sad Once again thanx for your do dilegence .
