Anyone know of any places in aroostook that are able to be accessed via vehicle? looking for a place at either eagle lake, long lake, scopan lake, or anywhere near there that has a area to park my truck at and walk out from. Thanks!

I think Telos road goes to Chamberlain Lake and there is a lot near the Arm of Chamberlain.

Eagle and Cross both have vehicle parking.

Any idea how thick the ice is on eagle?

To just below the gearbox on a Jiffy auger.

Not too sure about Cross anymore, I haven't been down but uncle henry stopped plowing 3 years ago. Maybe some one else is opening it up. Long has several you just have to know where. Lake side camps Sinclair on long will let you park there and walk out. Sporting club will charge $5 to park but you can avoid the fee by just driving onto the lake and park on the ice, he doesn't own that. There is a little shanty village in St. Agatha, just look for a road/driveway that that cuts around a garage and onto the lake. Also in St. Agatha, the smaller boat launch on Cleveland Rd. is plowed and then there is the Chapel at birch point beach in Madawaska. Eagle always has access at the beach located just before the boat ramp. Good luck.

Is the cross lake you are talking about the one on the border with Canada on the st. Francis River or is this a different Cross Lake I thought the only way to get there was an hour long snowmobile ride

Different Cross Lake, this one is on the fish river chain, formerly T17R4 I believe.

looks like eagle might be the better destination for us. hopefully i can get the family out early enough to punch a few holes and catch something.
