I'm converting
« on: Jan 02, 2010, 07:27 PM »
I am converting to 2lb line.I am tired of trying to use small jigs with 4lb.The other day I spooled my rod with 2lb because that was all I had to use.It is amazing how much more sensitive and easier it is to use the smaller jigs.

Yep. Most people use 1-3lb for gills... some even use 8oz line.  :o

It's amazing how much of a difference dropping down in line class.

I like Gamma ESP 2# with a line diameter of .10 mm which is the same as Berkley Trilene Microice 1# line diameter of .10 mm.  I don't get stuck on simply what the mfg list as # test anymore.  I look more carefully at the actual line diamter when it involves small lines and the strength of the line.

A good thin diameter 2# ice line is best for bluegills.  I've used that pound test for 8 years and love it.

My personal favorite is berkley 1lb test for gills, step it up to 2lb for the crappie.
