Howdy! Texan here looking for a mentor.
« on: Jan 22, 2019, 12:49 PM »
Hi all,

I’m an early 30’s subcontractor, work in commercial construction all over the US. My next job starts this February in Coralville. Normally I buy a nonresident hunting license wherever I am but all the seasons I’m interested in are coming to a close.

So, I was wondering if any of you seasoned hard water anglers wouldn’t mind showing a new guy the ropes. I’ve fished all my life in SE Texas, mostly saltwater. I’m definitely a fish-for-food kind of angler.

So, if any of you wouldn’t mind letting me buy the beer in exchange for an day of tutoring, please drop me a line!

Thanks,
Jason

Jason:  I don't know if you have a reason or excuse to get up towards Minneapolis/St Paul, but if you are up this way, be happy to try to get you on some fish.  Just shoot me a PM if you make it up this way.

I live in North Liberty very close to Coralville.  Send me a message with your contact info and I will shoot you a text.  I plan to go out this weekend ice permitting.

Your best luck for super fast action and table fare will be Clear Lake if you can get up another 3 hrs from Coralville. Clear Lake Iowa is 7 miles west of Mason City Iowa. Yellow bass can bite non-stop and there is absolutely no limit for yellow bass. Guys can literally catch 100 fish a day. Also has crappie, perch and one of the few lakes stocked with muskie in Iowa. But, the yellow bass fishing can absolutely be killer up there.
