That is a toad! And it actually has some great color on it!

Anyone know if it got to swim away? Either way way to go for the person who caught it!

What a toad! I fished Newfound yesterday for the first time, it's a nice lake. I think the NH state record is also from there.

Quick ice report.. went out off Wellington Beach today, everything was solid with water and slush on top, shore line was locked up tight. Also checked the access point just past Wellington and the boat launch at Wellington, both were solid with no issues. I will check again on Thursday.

No skunk today!
Shobizz jigged her 2nd laker ever...nice fatty too!
We bumped the house to a better bottom in 35 FOW and were seeing lakers all day. I got a late feeder just before quitting time on a tip up along with 2 chew n screws earlier.
Be out there tomorrow.
Big puddle at Wellington launch maybe 6” deep. I hope it doesn’t help to open the ice there...I was wondering if making a small hole would drain the puddle? I’ll leave it to the experts to decide.

Yes the State Record for Lake Trout in NH is out of Newfound Lake, 39.50", 28 lbs. 8 oz. caught 4/24/1958 by Albert C. Staples from Mass.

I have the picture in my bobhouse as a reminder of what im looking for.

Thank you YT125! Nice report.

For those that don't know, there is a vehicle access road onto the lake. It's just past Wellington State Park on the right, it drives down onto the beach area and then onto the lake.

AWESOME SHOBIZZ!!! Congrats to you and a nice one at that! Nothing like jigging up a laker, so much fun.

Question: Was it on a jig stick or jig rod?

Jig stick! I have a couple of cheapo rod and reels but rarely use them...

Did Albert catch that record laker through the ice or trolling?

Thanks! It was mayhem for a bit...she was so excited to see it come out of the hole she let it flop around on the floor and it got all tangled in her jig line! She was pumped for sure😀

Got to the lake and Mowbizz and Psycho were there unloading. Today was about mapping and putting out cusk lines which i did. See how they do.

Unbelievable day out weather wise. Saw temps of 60F and a slight warm breeze. After i left, it started to cloud up and drizzle. It was slush out there today as the snow was melting however the water was starting to evaporate and the ice was drying up in some areas. Otherwise there was some deep slush but nothing too bad. Wheelers and Snowmobiles should have no problems but will be a wet ride.

Ended up with 2 lakers on the motivator and lost quite a few...all were little lakers.

Tomorrow morning helping a nice couple and their daughter cut some holes for their daughters college experiment. Should be fun.

More later....

We got the skunk on this beautiful day but had fun despite the lakers not cooperating. Got a visit from Green Ghost and his partner (forgot his name already 😳)
I was bored by 2pm so we set our cusk lines and left...wet and slushy but I don’t believe we’re losing much ice. Hopefully the weather turns around to a more normal temperature soon.
Time for the 20 hour service  on the Argo tomorrow (oil and tranny fluid change) then go check the cusk lines.
Nice to see Jiggin and meet Psycho in the parking lot!

Just gots back from bumping my house, and what an adventure that was. Showed up to my house, and 3 of my tie down holes had opened up. Those, and the holes under my house had the swirls, and water was all around (hard to find a dry spot). So the 2.7 mile bump was on ! Got a little wet...nah a lot wet on the way, but travel was easy. Once I arrived there already was a bobhouse there so had to find  a new and high spot, so I found one with less water on the ice in about 42 feet of water on a shelf going to 109 ft of water!
Can’t wait to try it for derby. I saw lotsa surface water, and am glad I got to my house when I did...
ICE TO THE TOP PLEASE!!!.....

Wow! Glad you got to it when you did. I took a walk around to see how a few of the other houses off Wellington were doing and didn’t see any opened up holes...hopefully the weather takes a turn for the better now!

Quick conditions report.. Went on off Wellington Beach this morning, shoreline was solid, about 2” of water on top of the ice with a skim layer of ice on top.. we headed to about 50 fow where are houses are.. 2 tie down holes were open a little but no issues.. we drilled a hole to find 20” of ice..  plenty. We pulled one house off at the winter access at the far corner of the beach.. rock solid! We also checked on the boat launch at Wellington and it was also rock solid.. should be all good for Newfound derby this weekend unless we have some crazy weather change.. Good luck to all this weekend!

Pleasantly surprised the ice had dried up from last night. Ice creeper day.
Dropped my line down and within minutes caught one on the motivator. This continued all day until the end when I finally caught one jigging.
Ended the “day” w 11 Lakers. Checked my cusk lines had only some bait rape and some regeritated bait.
Bump 3 of them. Left 3 there.

Still out here and going home Sunday. Currently its beautiful out here. Quiet.

Good luck to all this weekend. Stay safe.
