I saw this in the Maine forum. Beautiful fish. Really a trophy whether you mount it or not.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

There is actually a lot darker salmon in the lake I caught that in that was kind of light for a male salmon.  I was very happy with the full hook jaw.

I think if the tail was laying flat, it would show as a regular "squaretail"  it's just a bit crumpled up, not really a fork.  Also the mouth of a landlocked doesn't go past the eye.

After looking them up I would have to say it is a Salmon. Never seen those before. Look just like a Brown for the most part.

All browns will have red dots. Even Atlantic's in the river during a run can get a dark phase like a brown. Same as a brown going to a silver phase when they are sea/ lake run. Salmon won't have red dots though.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and you'll never see him again....

Caught it in a salmon an togue lake no browns in there. 22 inches 3.5 pounds. Very nice colors for a salmon.  A lot of ppl get male salmon an browns confused.

my first thought was a brown but it also reminds me of a river run salmon thats been in the river for awhile.
