Out West…WAAAY West (2/17/22)

You can keep your ice. I’ve moved on to open water! Putting away my ice gear, I think. I had a fun three species day. Caught my first HumuHumuNukuNukuApua’a, rectangular trigger fish. Catching them reminds me of fat, hard-fighting bluegill or small bass. I guess the red goatfish (moano) is a delicacy, tastes like sweet shrimp or lobster, but I released them. Guess I missed some snow in CO? I was sipping Mai Tai’s in 80F weather.

Yep, beautiful fish.  You really never know what’s biting on the end of the line!  Amazing variety out there.  Just didn’t find any big boys this trip.

Maui!  It’s def a magical place.  Saw turtles swimming by every day, and whales were everywhere.
