Lake Manitoba/winnipeg

Im going to school in north dakota.... Orginially from michigan did alot of ice fishing there and in ontario. Looking tog et some info on the lakes as i would love to make it up and fish. Whats the typical fish caught/targeted?  I used to fish simcoe for perch and have fished the great lakes numerous times.

Hey, your more then welcome to come and see what we've got here.

Walleye are the most targeted fish here, if that is what will turn your crank they aren't hard to find, Lake Winnipeg has a huge population of huge walleye.

Perch hasn't been too great for the last five or six years, but if you can find them on Lake Manitoba it is a lot of fun.

Pike aren't usually hard to find (I move if I catch too many), if you go to the right lakes you can catch some gooders.

Then there are lake trout, whitefish and crappie (Ontario is better for these).

I can't see you having too much trouble to find a "guide" for the day on this forum. At least for walleye

Quite a few Americans now come up to take advantage of the Lake Winnipeg winter walleye fishery. Some stay at the South Beach Casino at Scanterbury on the Brokenhead First Nation. Very close to good fishing from there. Come on up spend some cash and enjoy this world class sport fishery :)
