I see there are several ways to affix a spring-tip to an ice rod.
The two ways I've seen are 1) hanging past the last eye,
and 2) where it hovers in line above the last eye at a 45 degree angle.
I was curious which one people one they prefer
and why?

I mount mine a third way...straight to the left ( or right ) from the rod tip, then up at about a 45* angle. Easier for me to see the strike.

Have both in my rod bag and still can't come up with a preference. Usually my longer poles have the over rod type and shorter ones have the spring extending out past the end of tip.
