Champlain South Bay?  Two buddies were out this past weekend. Dead zone, caught nothing but a buzz.

I was there last Sunday, marked some fish but no biters, and no flags.

What happened to South Bay?  We used to catch tons of fish there, then it just stopped, at least for us.

I do remember seeing a kid pulling around a plastic sled (like for snow sledding) and it was just full of pike.  Seemed like a waste.  Maybe overfishing killed SB?

Unfortunately the last couple years the bay has been a Dead Sea. I can remember ice fishing there and having flags all day long and getting some nice pike. Only thing I hear being caught there are small pickerel and few perch here and there. It’s to bad cause it was nice to go there but now we drive up to Ti and catch some nice pike up that way. Hopefully the bay will come back one day.

That about sums it up! Caught a couple nice Crappie kayaking there this summer but only a couple on each trip.

I'm not saying they're biting on Brant.  But they probably are

I didn't want to bash the site.  It has it perks and its downfalls.  And people wonder why no one wants to name a spot these days

Can I go fishing? Unless it’s on Brant, I can’t.

IS.com is great for the reports/conditions posting as it relates to safely getting out on the ice but any mention of catching fish will draw a crowd overnight.

I doubt it has anything to do with this site, i've electro fished south bay and the amount of fish that pop up are ridiculous, usually we have to have two other boats following to grab the stunned fish. I think its more of a biological thing, shallow productive part of the lake, means no oxygen in the middle of winter when all those plants die. resulting in fish who would rather conserve energy than feed. its a damn shame.

I agree with you 💯! We fish it when the ice goes out til the ice comes back with the bass boat and have tremendous success in the bay with pike, bass, gar, perch, cats and so on. With the fish kill of alewives every year in the bay maybe there’s a ton of dead bait these fish feed on under the ice 🤷🏻‍♂️
