Eskimo or is strikemaster which is best ? Looking to buy a new one . which one starts in the cold best?

You tube it Eskimo z71 is fast. Super fast. But strike master. Fires up in first or second pull every time. Speed isnt the main thing on the ice. Buy a quality product. Strikmaster or jiffy made in the USA

Nils Master 8in. will outdrill anything stock and won,t kill you doing it.

Are we all in such a hurry to drill holes? My 10" Z51 was cutting through 12" in 14 seconds the other day, I saw a goofball out there with a 8" Strikemaster taking 1 1/2 minutes to drill a hole. It was obvious he had dulled his blades by trying to push through the hole instead of letting his auger just cut through. Then I saw another Goofball banging his auger on the ice trying to get the ice off of it and then try to drill a hole. He took for ever to hand drill his holes also.

It doesn't matter what auger you get. If you take good care of it it will get the job done and you will catch fish.

If you don't take care of it you will be out there looking like a GOOFBALL.

Slow down and enjoy your trips.

I will put my eskimo Z71 3.7hp 10" auger aginst anything on the ice and crush them. Its fast and easy as heck to use. I dont have to push onthe auger one once. Starts on the 2nd pull gauaranteed and many times starts on the first. I had a jiffy before this and am never going back...Eskimo all the way!

a year or two ago I made a vid to answer this same question... If I remember right it was 19" of ice in 12 seconds.

I never timed it, but my Jiffy 30 leaves nothing to be desired... I can tell you that. Cuts fine.

Yea, like it is a drag race to drill a hole.

Those whole 2 seconds is what makes or breaks your day of ice fishing and whether or not your auger is any good. I will trade speed for reliability any day.

I think the best auger is the one that makes noise when ya pull the rope and drills a hole. I have seen a lot of the super fast augers take ten minutes to drill a hole in 24" of ice because even though they were the rage at the, time some folks didn't realize a sharp blade is 90% of the game.

Ya wanna stir, OK. No they're not. Check your facts first. Nils is the only USA made auger anymore, with the exception of the Pro-4, which IS made in California. All other engines are made in China.

Nils is the fastest and lightest made, haven't had any other brand outdrill it yet....All steel to no plastic and maybe the most reliable 2 stroke engine made turning the bit...
