Someone posted a link last season to a site that sold vented propane heaters for shanties and deer hunting box stands. I think they were in the $100 range. I'll see if I can find the link.

Have you thought of getting one of those vent free heaters? Big Jack installed one of these glo-warm vent free units in his shanty last year. That thing is sweeeet, keeps a nice even temp, has thermostat, built in lighter, and is very efficent, another nice thing was that you could sit pretty close to with out getting cooked out of the shack. I still kept a window open a crack just for fresh air. Try a search for glo-warm or better yet try a local furnace/propane dealer.

Thanks Guys! Scott, do you have any issues with excessive moisture? I have found with most propane heaters a frost build-up if not vented. Heater looks great!

Where are you building up moisture, inside at the air intake or at the vent? Remember, heat will suck the moisture out of the structure it is trying to heat. It also sucks the fresh air out of a room, to burn the fire. The moisture it uses has to go somewhere, some in the burning process, depending on the efficiancy of the appliance and the rest out the vent, or collecting in the bottom of the heater by the fresh air intake.

No Bushmaster it stays quite dry in the shack. If insulated properly frost build up shouldn't be a problem. We had Cheryl's birthday party in there last year, even in single digits with a large group of people in the shack moisture was not a problem.

Thanks to all! Great data!

Scott, I'm all over the Glo-Warm heater. Found it for a real nice price of $180 and will order one in the next day or so. What size heater did he get and what size is his shanty? I have an 8x8 and plan on getting the 20,000btu model GWP20T.

BushMaster, I just saw the 10,000-20,000 btu model at fleet farm the other day for $168.00, same model Jack has not sure on the number. His shack is 8'x12' I believe. The unit heats it quite easily.
