Monkeyyboness you exclusively fishing at night? Jigging or tipups? You seem to be the only one every year who slams em there.

Monkeyyboness are you moving around a lot or waiting for them to come to you?i used to fish afternoons and the a couple hours into the dark and has some pretty good trips But the wife had a bad experience one night when the top slush layer kept breaking through. There was 14” good inches of black ice at that time. But it didn’t matter.she was in freak out mode.We had to sit in the truck for almost a half hour before she stopped shaking. So she refused to fish there at night. Now she doesn’t ice fish anymore and I totally forgot to give it a try late. Thanks for the reminder

Looks like the real-time graph is just starting to climb in the last half hour.  Has not been the amount of rain predicted so far.......I can not make the derby due to work but let's hope the rivers levels and ice jams do not require the need to raise the lake level too much!!

go on the reports and conditions page and see the Whitney Point thread. Think you'll see your answer when you see the video a guy posted. Lots of open water

One winter off won't help fish size much it might be a fairly long body of water but not really much depth it gets hammered all summer to I don't think it will ever have much for good sized fish we ice fish pretty hard when we can and usually only keep a couple eyes all season just doesn't produce like most lakes

Is the bait shop open in Chenango Forks? Is there a secret greeting or a handshake for Ice Shanty members? I normally fish alone and wondered how to tell if anyone was from I. S.?

Just talked to the guy at Wayner's in Chenango Forks. They are open Wed-Sun 8 AM to 6 PM. They are out of minnows but hoping for a shipment this week. Probably a good idea to call first. 607-204-0428.

I understand that.  But with two places to buy bait withing 30 miles.  If you need them and they got them i guess it comes down to how bad you want them. Just my opinion.

Call Lock and Load first. A lot of times they are out of minnows. I don't think they get very many in at a time. They are more of a gun and bow shop than a fishing store, but they have a few things for hard and soft water. It's a little farther away from WP, but the Athens, PA Agway has always had fatheads and shiners every time I've gone there. They usually have waxies and meal worms also and are hit or miss on spikes. It's not bad for me though because I live half way between the two stores...
