Title: New (to me) fly for icefishing
Post by: eyeflyer on Dec 07, 2022, 04:20 PM
Came upon this fly while looking at a buddies youtube channel. Its called a bubba gump shrimp, which is actually a leech/scud combo pattern. The last couple years I have had my best luck with flies when ice fishing for trout. The micro leech has worked really well, lots of scuds and leeches in the lake I fish so it should work well. No leeches out in the winter but they still hit the leech patterns pretty regular. This pattern has marabou tail with brine, string leech, etc type material for the body and a tungsten or regular bead. These are pretty small (size 12) so i will be fishing them on dropper rigs when fishing deeper than 10 feet which is most of the time. Weather has turned so hope to try them out tomorrow.

Nothing on the new fly today but managed to ice a few for the smoker. Fishing wasn't great but jig/cheese and fishing rap with a dropper were the best  today.
