For the trigger, drill a hole in a metal hose clamp, stick a machine screw through from the inside, and tighten the clamp down around the tube. Bend a rod to go over it and hold it down, then back to the front to loop the line over. A coat hanger should do the trick. Bend a closed loop in the bottom to go through a little eye bolt screwed into the base.

I like it efka, that trigger set up is very cool. Wish I would have thought of something like that when I was tinkering with my own. Very simple and clean. Oh well 2 snappers & 2 jawjackers in now is how I'll be rolling this winter. Thanks for sharing, I'm sure there will be some people using that design on there own homemade hook setters

So here is my attempt a snapper. I used a rat trap from a feed store $2.40. I used all of the trap to build the rod holder. I tried a couple ways to build and ended up using small eye hooks to attach to the board. The main wire form the "snaps" seems a bit small. I think it will work fine for a small rod. Not enough movement for a longer rod. I may look for heaver wire to make the "snapper" bigger. The rod holder needs a notch for proper rod placement.

Thank you Lord for thinkin bout me. I'm alive and doin fine!!!!!!
